  1. It all comes down to politics. If it's not this school, it's another. What more students need to do is unite and speak up. They can't let instructors bully them. Some of my classmates were scared that the instructors would find out and then try to fail them in clinicals, because they are with you in lecture and clinicals. But I did see another group get together and complain to the dean, must have been about 6 students together. The dean only questioned the instructor, the instructor kept teaching, basically she wasnt disciplined and threatened students that now that they've gone to the dean to report her, she will be extra hard on them during clinicals. If you plan to get in and you do, just stick your head in your studying, don't make close friends (because you will get backstabbed) and remember that's it's only a few long hard months till you graduate. Good luck.
  2. Yes you must register to college first then to the program. Best advice is to see what the prerequisites are for pccc lpn to rn and do them first to get them out of the way. I don't believe they offer night class for lpn to rn program.
  3. There were many students who had families and we're also depending on not failing, but a few did.. even up to the last semester with two months before graduating. I've noticed that to do well you have to buddy up with a small group of friends that you'll make. And believe me, there will be clicks forming that think they are superior than others. So once you buddy up, follow the power points, ignore the textbook because it will only confuse you with unnecessary information. Instead, purchase review books that correlate to the subject, like Saunders Nclex review book. A book like this will give you short version info with practice questions. Make sure to do questions before each test. I recommend Mosby nclex review books for this. With my first post, I didn't mean to scare you. But it's reality with the school. You will have to push through with little to no mistakes when it comes to clinical skills. You can be good in test taking, but once you're in the clinical setting, the instructors don't play with mistakes. Many students got sent home for failing to do something right at the hospital. Be prepared to read every form they give you and verify everything twice with the instructors before assuming anything. I was also surprised how unorganized this program is being that their nursing program has been around since 1968. What a shame.
  4. If you've always been an A student get ready to become a low B student. The school is really unorganized, the rumors are true. Some instructors are nasty. And I wonder why do you want to be a teacher? If they see you're weak they will bully you. They love to prey on the weak. Some instructors are amazing. There's one in particular that's short, cute and very very nice. You can tell that she loves what she does and wants to see you pass. She encourages you that there's a light at the end of the tunnel, don't let that light get smaller. I miss her. God bless her. The rest, humph! They should take notes!
  5. I was a student recent grad I can answer your questions. Let me tell you, it's hard. They make it hard because the program is hard and I've seen many students fail clinicals fail tests, many who graduate are people who failed and retook the semester. Also, this school needs to start hiring fairer instructors. If they don't like you they will find a way to fail you. It's sad. They forget that this is a learning experience not a job.
