  1. I go to Yavapai College in Arizona and there is a girl in my cohort who had failed 1st semester and got back in. Well now she failed second semester and she said she was told she can come back in the program no problem. There's a chance!
  2. I loved my anatomy and physiology classes! I believe it helps if every time you learn something in that class, apply it to yourself, your body! All of what you are learning is going on inside of you! Having that outlook throughout this class helped me remember, because throughout the day I would think to myself... I am breathing through my trachea, into my bronchioles, the alveoli is exchanging oxygen I breathe for the carbon dioxide to be released. While I am eating: this food is going down my esophagus, past my gastroesophageal sphincter into my stomach, past the pyloric sphincter into my small intestine which includes areas of duodenum, jejenum, ileum, and then into my large intestines which includes ascending, transverse, descending, and sigmoid colon leading out the anal canal... This worked for me and as you can see I can still remember almost everything pretty good! I got A's in both A&P's, too! On a side note, I hated chemistry and I got a B in it. It would have helped if I went to tutoring for it.
  3. Hello all! I am currently two classes away (Microbiology/Nutrition) from being done with all my pre-reqs, and I plan on being enrolled into the Nursing program Spring 2017. I will be getting my Nursing assistant certificate this summer, and if you have any information on what that is going to be like, and what you do or can do as a Nursing assistant, that would be very informational and helpful. Also, I think that if I work as a nursing assistant until I get my RN degree, I will most likely get a job faster and maybe get paid a little more than starting salary because of the medical experience I have? Correct me if I am wrong. I have plenty of time left until I am in the Nursing program, and I was hoping any of you that have already had the experience could link me to some books or knowledge that I could start going over now. I would love to have a little bit of a feel to it beforehand, and I love learning so it is really a win-win situation. I am grateful for any knowledge you can provide. Thank you, and have a good day!
  4. I'm sure I will help people more positively and skillfully than you ever did. And that's all that matters to me. I don't care about feeling warm and fuzzy myself, I want sick people to feel better in everyway. In that way, I believe I am better. And 40 years from now you will be dead so I can't talk to you when I am seasoned, sorry.
  5. You can do both. Scratch that, I guess people can't do both. Whatever. I will.
  6. Wow, this is positivity at its finest!!! :)
  7. Wow and it's not rude to be negative to others (if ever... ok Mr./Ms. Negative, how did YOU get in the program then), practice what you preach! Get yourself off your high pedestal because it is possible for anybody to become a nurse and I will prove to you and all the other nurses like you that you CAN be caring towards people and passionate about your job. I have seen it myself! You should never be demeaning towards others because they want a job you already have. You don't even want to research the differences nurturing makes in recovery for patients. Don't you think you should care? I think so. But what do I know, I'm not a nurse yet so I obviously don't know the importance of caring for a person whose health is in your hands! Nope. No idea. It is not like that IS THE REASON why I am going to be a nurse. Be a positive influence in people's lives, quit being so rude and negative! It is not going to hurt you, and will probably be better for your health in the end. Geez!
  8. The point that you obviously missed was that IN MY OPINION, IN MY BELIEF, (I emphasized this many times but I will again) nurses should have passion for their job, they should CARE about the person they are supposed to CARE for. You can be both skilled and passionate, and through my education and personal experience it makes a huge difference having an indifferent nurse just doing their job vs. one with energy, love, and true caring. But as always, everyone will believe what they want. After all, it is probably just the money that provides the drive, and not the human putting their trust and health into the nurses' hands. So yes, I definitely believe myself that it would be amazing if all nurses were skilled, nurturing, and passionate. I can't change other people, but I can do this myself and perhaps others will see the major difference in patients and try it themselves. I know you don't believe me, but maybe you could research this yourself, the big difference in an assuring, nurturing nurse(or doctor) vs. one that is not this way and is just "doing their job skillfully."
  9. What mostly annoys me, though it does not get to in the way of my passion for learning, is all the people going into nursing without passion for it whatsoever! It seems like they are just trying it for the money, or some other unknown reason. If one had a real motivation for it, I feel that a person should have passion for it and look forward in a positive manner. Almost everyone I know in my pre-reqs are always worried and negative, instead of thinking, it's ok, I will work harder and do better next time! Because of this I hardly talk to others because their negativity just makes me wonder, how can you thing so low of yourself? How are you expected to love and care for others if you can't love or care for yourself properly? I do feel I am a bit exempt and without this feeling because learning is natural for me and I know a different language, so that helps me learn anatomy and math far easier than others, I believe. I also believe in myself, and have faith that God can help me through anything
