  1. I should have clarified that this is acutally a part time position for 4 hours a day. The school has one full time nurse and a full time health aid. I would be coming in to make sure there was coverage at all times (lunches and if the full time nurse is away), so I would have someone available to consult most of the time and especially in the beginning while I was new. Working part time days and having the summers off would allow me to get my BSN over the next 2 years which is why I specified that time frame. I'm sorry if I came across as school nursing not being important or not encountering medically difficult situations, that was not my intent at all. I am close with the nurses in our school district, it was acutally one of them who cautioned me about going into school nursing right after graduating if I wanted to work in the hospital. I was just looking for a broader opinion from others in the field. Thank you for you input.
  2. I have recently graduated and am interviewing for a school nurse position. I loved the high paced clinicals (ER, OB, ICU) but havn't been able to get an interview for those positions. I am applying for other positions now too. If I get offered the school nurse position, is it career suicide to take it? Will I be able to move into acute care down the road? The position would be a great schedule fit for my family (I have 5 kids and haven't worked outside the home in many years). The pay is really good (about 50% more an hour than the hospital). I have my Bachelors in Education but only my associates in nursing, I plan on doing a RN-BSN bridge, and working a school schedule would make that easier. What are your thoughts? Would this be okay to do for a couple years or should I think long term about where I would like to be career wise? Thank you for any input!
  3. I graduated May 19 and am scheduled to test on June 9. We used ATI throughout nursing school and I feel that has prepared me well for NCLEX. I am using Saunders to help prepare by answering 100 questions (or at least a goal of 100 a day until I test. Can't wait until this has passed!
  4. Has anyone called the department to see when more details are coming out? I would like confirmation that they received my acceptance before the response cut off deadline of March 21. Guess I will wait some more and call on March 20 if they haven't emailed anything out by then.
  5. What is your B.A. in? I have mine in Elementary education.
  6. I am going to be doing the day program for the same reason. I have 5 kids, this way I only need to have sitter for the youngest. The other 4 will be in school. A FB group sounds like a great idea í ½í±í ¼í¿¼
  7. I have now received the official acceptance into the day program email :) I replied with my acceptance and am now waiting on directions on getting my background check and drug screening done. Best of luck to all of you doing the essay, I hope to see you all on registration day.
  8. I got an email this morning, anyone else? It was pretty generic though, just saying I am a qualified candidate and they will contact me within 2 business days for instructions on the next step.
  9. I haven't heard anything. (not so) Patiently waiting as well
  10. Congratulations!! I am still waiting on the email...have you gotten one yet? I *should* be guaranteed admission based on my TEAS score, but it would be nice to have something in writing. Has anyone on here gotten an email yet?
  11. I applied for the Fall 2016 and am anxious to get an email too!
  12. I applied as well and am anxious to get an email. I did well on the TEAS so I should be guaranteed admission, but a confirmation would be nice. I have done all my pre-req's except Micro. I will be taking it this summer.
