  1. Curious - for those accepted, where does/did everyone go to school? I graduated from Stony Brook but took some prereqs at SCCC. Wondering how many familiar faces I'll see.
  2. I can start with a question, what's the "BBP program"?
  3. I checked here first, saw that some were accepted - and then had to go to my emails. Nervous wreck, hand-shaking and then I saw it. I got the Congratulations! So psyched. Looking forward to seeing you all in September. I don't go on Facebook so have fun for those of you that get to know each other better that way. Good luck to the rest of you. After reading posts from last-year's applicants I will say that the emails came in bursts for a few days so don't give up hope just yet. As far as waitlists, remember, there are a lot of applicants who applied to this program AND the accelerated. If they got wait-listed on the accelerated they don't get "called up" until June. If they go, there's a free slot.
  4. Sorry. Hit enter for some reason 1. If you can, take summer classes. Many schools do not require the prereq for a summer class. I was able to take A&P without the Chem but eventually needed to take it. They just didn't offer the chem in the summer. You really have to juggle ideas around and make your schedule work for you. 2. Try online courses. A lot of nursing programs require developmental psych. I took this online. What's really cool about online classes is they're much more flexible. And by that I mean start and stop times. For instance, my psch class started July 9th and ended August 12th. And there are a lot of classes offered that way. A big BUT - watch out for labs. For most nursing schools, they need to be taken in school and cannot be taken on-line. In short, spend some time figuring out a schedule that works well for you. Really tough to do it in a year, but I did. Good Luck!
  5. It does take a long time to finish your prerequisites. Two pieces of advice: 1.
  6. One of the reasons for such a long wait is the background check the school has to perform. For some applicants, that's not a lengthy process (those 20 year-olds out there). For others, this could take a week alone (like myself). If I were the investigator, I'd be putting my application on the bottom or waiting until I could have a few glasses of wine first
  7. Yes. Those that have interviewed are awaiting a response as to whether or not we have been accepted.
  8. COME ON ALREADY! This waiting is getting ridiculous
  9. I've got to tell you, I'm very grateful for this forum. I check the activity of this before I even look at my emails. I have over 300 per day and hate scrolling through all of them to look for Stony Brook. So much easier to come here and see that they haven't been sent out yet. Have a great weekend everyone!
  10. You're right, on all accounts. A friend of mine is a veteran and he was interviewed in a pool of others. There were 12 that day and they were told they need a minimum of 18 so they're all in. Done deal for them. I appreciate the note of encouragement about interviews and math. I'm comfortable that I did well on both but the words of encouragement for others is always welcome. And finally recommending we not freak out is sweet. Sometimes we just need to hear some good advice. Thank you for your post.
  11. 6 weeks from tomorrow for me too. I'm pretty sure if they were telling all three weeks of us that it's going to be 6-8 weeks that we've got to wait at least another week. Probably more. It's not even 4 weeks for the final rounders.
  12. I know it's early but has anyone heard anything - that any movement is occurring at all.
  13. I didn't think waiting would be hard.
