  1. I am a Christian RN. Given what has happened globally over the past 2 years, I have spent alot of time trying to fiqure out the end game, especially now with evidence coming out regarding the use of statistics to amplify numbers of deaths here in the UK, amongst other issues. It appears our National Health System is failing (Due to decades of mismanagement and poor financial management, along with talks of offloading to US management), the issues are multifactorial so I won't go into it further. As a Christian I beleive in end times, and it seems things are progressing in that direction. As a community (I live in a small country town) myself, other nurses and hoslitic practitioners believe it prudent to start a community health hub to help those people who do not wish to take the vaccine and therefore are being excluded from the healthcare system. I don't know enough about parish nursing, but think it could be run similarly. I have noted in this group that there is mention of an online Parish nursing course......could someone point me in the right direction to this course? Also would anyone experienced in Parish nursing like to communicate with me in regards to this? Many thanks from Northumberland, UK
  2. I work at a long term care facility. We have a resident in her early 60's with COPD, on 2 l of o2. Which goes outside off o2 to smoke a couple of times an hour. Then is wanting inhalers and nebulizer as soon as she gets back to her room. In addition wants lorazepam every 4 hours then wants midazelam (2,5mg) sc. In addition to all this she has 45ml of vodka tid and a few beers........all to help her cope with anxiety. She is an ex nurse and "knows her rights". I have tried to talk with her about her anxiety and to address the issues rather than demanding meds. I'd appreciate any input as I'm struggling to help the lady in a meaningful way. I do have to say I have observed quietly and she seems not to have real respiratory distress, yet when I knock on her door and approach her she starts gasping. O2 sats 93-94% on 2l o2. Anyone care to share their experience..insight. respiratory care has never been my forte. Thanks. I just requested the respiratory team to come and review her care but that won't happen till midweek and I'm working all weekend with this lady. Thanks
  3. Because world wide, nurses are placed under high levels of stress. I am an agency nurse and I no matter which organisation I work in each week, I hear the same complaints....Nurses feel undervalued and overstressed, "burnt out", fatigued...fed up with the organisational changes forced upon them, poor leadership etc. Enhancing personal and workplace resilience can help address this. Research by Kinman and Grant (2011); Adamson et al, (2012) & Stephenson (2013) has made some headway into helping to develop resilience in the helping professions.
  4. Hi everyone, I am currently undertaking a MSc in occupational psychology and I am looking at wellbeing in the workplace. I wondered if any of you have ever been offered resilience training at your workplace, or if you have found training for yourself. Developing emotional resilience for practise is a key skill which enhances wellbeing, job satisfaction and retention in healthcare professions. I am based in the UK, but I am interested in whether this type of training has been offered in the UK, USA, or anywhere else in the world. I am aware of a couple of facilities in Australia offering it. Also looking to see if there is actually any interest in this type of program/workshops being offered. Love to read peoples thoughts on this.
