  1. Just wanted to update, I was able to get my FNP, RN, and furnishing license with about a three-month turnaround time. They were listed as pending/incomplete on the website despite sending my supporting documents multiple times. So I called every day, most days I got super unhelpful people, but I finally reached someone with the board who literally pushed it through within 24 hours. If you are needing to get your license for work and are not getting anywhere with the board I recommend calling until you get through to someone who is willing to help ?
  2. Hello, Has anyone made the switch from FNP (primary care) to PMHNP (psychiatry)? If so, what were your reasons, and was it worth it? I graduated as an FNP in 2020, completed a yearlong residency, and though I'm doing fine at work, I'm struggling to find work-life balance and am really disillusioned with how little time I have with patients and how rushed our visits are. I am considering the post-master's PMHNP certificate because I want to have the luxury of time to spend with patients--at both of my jobs, psychiatry gets 30-60 minute appointments with patients versus 15 minutes for primary care. I also like the idea of flexibility. It seems psychiatry has more options for remote work. Becoming an expert in one area, rather than a jack of all trades, also appeals to me. I'd love to hear the perspective of people working in the field. Perhaps the grass is not greener--I want to know before I drop another $40k on school ? Thank you for insight!
  3. I am an FNP licensed in another state and applying for licensure in CA. My RN license was processed within four weeks but it has now been six weeks since I submitted my FNP application/furnishing license application. It says that my FNP education verification form and board certification verification (from ANCC) are both missing BUT I know that my school representative submitted the verification form (initially via mail five weeks ago, followed by an electronic submission four weeks ago). The ANCC sent their verification the day after I submitted my application, six weeks ago. I requested it sent again a week ago. I have called the board twice, both times the representative has hedged my question. Today when I called the representative claimed I just submitted my app two weeks ago and I would need to wait four weeks for processing. When I clarified that I had submitted it six weeks ago, she claimed it takes four to six weeks and that I should call back in another two weeks and "speak to a different representative." PLEASE HELP. Any advise about how to navigate this broken system is much appreciated. I am willing to go to Sacramento if needed but from what I can tell, the office is not open to the public at this time.
  4. It's not a charge. It's a request for an injunction :/ not that it makes me feel any better about it.
  5. I agree; I think my purpose here is more to gauge whether a hiring team (nurse manager, etc.) would see a denied request for a restraining order and automatically retract an offer.
  6. I was just offered an AMAZING RN job. I've been through many, many background checks over the years, but was surprised that this one requested addresses from all of the locations I've lived since I was 18. When I was in college (many years ago), I had a very emotionally abusive boyfriend. He would do anything to bring me down, tell me I was worthless, and convince me that I had no one to turn to for support. Long story short, I became completely dependent on him and when we broke up I called and called and begged him to take me back. He attempted to take out a temporary restraining order, which was denied (he made some unbelievable false claims, e.g. "stockpiling weapons" and "selling and using drugs"--I was and still am a very clean, drug free, and mild-mannered person!), and I was summoned to appear at a hearing for an injunction. He never showed up, had given a false address, the case was dismissed, and I never heard from him again. Needless to say, the entire situation has haunted me since. While legally I was never found guilty/charged/had any action taken against me (since the initial order was denied and the case dismissed), I am still worried that the attempt at an injunction will raise a red flag for this company. If I search my name in the public record I find "defendant" in a "domestic violence" case--you have to dig a little deeper to even see that the case was dismissed. Does anyone know if something like this would mean a retracted offer? Please let me know. I am terrified. This guy from my past is getting exactly what he wanted--to have his shadow hang over my life forever.
