I had no prior medical experience before nursing school. I'm a month from graduation and have gotten 4 job offers so far. LVN to RN to BSN will likely take you at least 5 years and triple the tuition.

I am about to graduate from the Texas A&M online BSN program in May. They also offer an accelerated BSN program that would allow you to graduate a semester early. Most of them are/were military medics. Many of the students in the accelerated cohort before mine are graduating with my class due to such a limited amount of time to complete coursework and clinical hours. Their grades suffered and they end up taking just as long as the traditional track. Some of them had children but none of them worked during school. I live in San Antonio and do my clinical rotations with a group of students in my cohort at University Hospital. It has been a great experience for me. Out of the 26 students in our cohort, three of us will be graduating with 4.0 gpa's. An online BSN is definitely a great option to consider if you are well organized and don't require a lot of personalized attention. Most of our class is comprised of 2nd degree student with kids and/or jobs. Hope this helped!

I am currently in my final semester in the TAMUCC eLine program. My personal experience has been really good. Like all nursing programs, it is tough but absolutely doable. I live in San Antonio and attend clinicals at University Hospital with a group of other students in the same cohort. It is a magnet and teaching hospital and has been a fantastic place to do rotations, very student friendly. Most of us are 2nd degree students, many with kids and outside jobs. The coursework is demanding but I know of at least 3 of us that will be graduating with 4.0 gpa's. My advice would be to save the money. $60,000 is a lot and that's just for tuition! You can count on an additional few thousand dollars for books, uniforms, testing fees, etc. Like most online programs, you will have to travel to campus a few times for orientation, skills check-offs in the first semester, and of course graduation. One of the drawbacks of an online nursing program (for me at least) is the lack of a skills lab to practice in. Although the lab on campus is always available, it kind of defeats the purpose of distance learning to make that drive. Being forced to learn on actual patients is a little scary at first but it gives you real world experience that you can't get in a SIM lab. The clinical instructors give you a lot of freedom to work and learn at your own pace in the hospital setting, and the nurses that you follow during clinicals are really helpful and eager to teach. Our little group has become very close-knit and I have never felt alone in the program. Hope this helps. Good luck to you!

I was told that 17 conditional "invitations" to join the program will go out but statistically only 10-12 students will actually enroll because of BON rejections, immunization issues, and pre-req grades.

So... acceptance letters are being mailed today and tomorrow. According to who I spoke with, 17 are being sent out. Good luck to everyone and I hope to be celebrating with you all soon!

Is anyone else having issues registering? I should have been able to register on the 4th but my pre-reqs were not recognized by the system. Advisor emailed today that it was fixed, tried to register- not fixed. I see now that classes are full and I can't even find BIMS 3401 Patho ANYWHERE in the registration. I wanted to try to get into the same classes as you guys. This doesn't seem to be starting out well for me :/

I felt like my interview went really well. I was told that we would hear after all interviews were completed, so around 2 weeks.

NurseRae78, my interview is right before yours but I haven't received any essay info. Was it sent in a separate email?

I emailed about getting a webex account and got the same reply with a link. When I clicked the link, it already had my meeting info with the password. I'm a little confused about the audio connection, though. Do we call the number when our meeting starts for sound? Also, I haven't received anything about the essay yet.

PS, for those that got an interview- word on the street from a former student is that an interview=acceptance 😆

I've got a 3.8 gpa, 95 on the HESI with a 930 for the critical thinking portion. I've been checking the mail like crazy in the hopes of receiving something. Why can't they just email acceptance letters like regular people?!?

I'm also a little confused. My GPA and scores are great but I haven't heard anything. I'm going to call tomorrow.

Was it a 361 area code number that called you guys?

I haven't been able to access SAIL in the past few days... Does anyone know what the out of pocket cost is for the 2 pre-reqs?

Got an email from TAMUCC asking me to sign financial responsibility forms for Summer/Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. Maryssa03, did you receive the email as well?

Just spoke with an Eline advisor who said that acceptance letters will be sent out via USPS the first or second week of April, so we're in the home stretch! I got my acceptance letter to UTHSCSA (my backup school) a few days ago and they now require a non-refundable $500 fee by April 15th to secure your seat in the program. I'm hoping that we hear back from A&M before I make that expense. Good luck to everyone!
