  1. My GPA is not high either but I'm keeping my faith up. I'm almost done with my bachelor's in another field and am taking two extra classes in my last semester for Prerequisites. I didn't do well because of personal matters but I am more motivated than ever. I'm applying to USF, PSC, & UCF. I'm applying to Polk State College because I assume it will be cheaper to build my GPA and get an ASN. After that I would hope to get into USF AS to MSN program. In the end I want to be a FNP. At USF or UCF, I would hope to get into ABSN program. UCF is closer to my hometown which I would be going back to. If I attend USF I'd have to find somewhere to live but I'm worried about employment and school. I've considered doing college apartment's again, but the best alternative seems that I should be heading to my hometown.
  2. I was wondering because back at my old school they would block you from registering to classes that weren't apart of major.
  3. I've decided to do the ASN but I have a year of prerequisites to complete. However, I don't know what I should enroll as since there is no preNursing option. I am currently looking at two schools, Hillsborough Community College and Polk State College. I'm really considering PSC because I could move back home and save funds. I'll be going to HCC campus next week and the following week I'll be on PSC campus to see advisers. I was at USF but I botched that opportunity when I flunked 3 classes (Behavioral Health Major). I've already spoken to a counselor to rectify the situation. I will not say its an excuse but I had major depression I still do have major depression. I just can't continue to be in a dark place because I genuinely want be someone with purpose instead of saying that I don't belong here and you can use your imagination to figure out the rest. Anyways, I will work hard and take classes over to reach my goal.
  4. Socal_EMT, EMT-B The original poster said abuse not tearing up homework. These are two very different things. ammiedew Work hard and don't just apply to one school. Go on campus and speak to a counselor. Organize your life and school. Form friendships with like minded people.
  5. Me too. I would highly recommend actually doing part time if you can.
  6. Major concern that was brought to my attention. If the LPN courses are transferable to RN are they transferable to a BSN?
  7. I'm somewhat in the same boat. My intentions are to do the LPN program first, prerequisites next, and then follow that up with the RN transition. I'm too am concerned with being able to make ends meet.
  8. I've been looking into both LPN programs at Erwin and Pasco Hernando State College, and I am uncertain about which to apply to. I have a series questions that need to be answered and I want to make sure I'm heading in the right direction. PHSC claims that their program will take up to 1 year. Erwin states that their night program will be 18 months. I would prefer to do only a year so I can get licensed and jump into the job market. Is the estimated length of both programs true? And which program is better? Are there any recommendations on a Teas study manual? I'm not all that financially stable at the moment so I opted for the LPN program first. I have two semesters to a year of prerequisites to complete before I can get into an ASN program. And the ASN would be two years. I have completed some of the prerequisite classes but if my GPA does not meet the cut I have to consider that I might just have retake those classes. I am meeting with an adviser at PHSC to look over my transcripts. My thought process is that I need to have my funds right before I make 2 to 3 year commitment which is why I am considering doing the LPN first. Though, I may be over thinking the whole thing. My initial plan was to do the LPN, prerequisites, and then the transition track. I think either going for the ASN or LPN first would take the same amount of time. What are your opinions?
