  1. Hey All!! I currently work at a busy Emergency Department in Long Island, NY. My wife and I are considering the prospect of moving from this tax-ridden rat race to a simpler way of life near family in Southeastern VA (Suffolk, Norfolk, VA Beach area). According to Salary.com, nurses in that area make an average of $64,000/yr (roughly $32.80/hr). But everything I'm reading says that nurses in that area are lucky to make $48,800/yr or $25/hr. Anything in the $32/hr range seems to be closer to Arlington/DC area. Where are these better paying jobs? Salary.com was dead accurate on the income in Long Island, so I'm somewhat shocked that it's nearly $15,000 off in it's estimation of RN income in VA.
