I'm in a similar position, except for the fact that I'm married to an Aussie and living in the UK. In the process of applying for a visa now, with a view to moving permanently to Melbourne in January. I'm a RMN [Registered Mental Nurse] with 2 and a half years experience post-training [3 year diploma] in the UK. Currently working in older age MH, but not sure whether to stay in that area or move into "adult" [sic] MH. I'm unsure of whether to try to get a permanent post ASAP or to try an agency to get the "lie of the land" i.e. where to work, where NOT to work etc. If I was to stay in the UK I'd be looking in to becoming a CPN [Community Psychiatric Nurse] round about now, so that would be my ultimate ambition in Oz too. Managing a caseload of community based clients etc. although I may be better off initially being hospital based... [?] Anybody got any strong views on this or want to share their experiences/knowledge? You're welcome to PM me, but it may be better to post here in case others have similar questions to mine! Thanks!
