Nope, we will be admitting 80 students again this year. We are actually expanding the waitlist this year In the event COVID does have an impact on students attending our program.

Hi All, There hasn't been any movement on the waitlist since my last email. This is actually kind of a slow period for the waitlist. Our BSN Admissions will conclude in a few weeks which might prompt movement, as well as other school admissions decisions. The SoN is working very hard to make sure our nursing students will have quality education in the program, and I don't foresee any delay in the start date. Obviously we need to play things by ear but our transition to online learning has seemed to prove as effective as possible. Let's hope all is better by Fall! In other news, for those admitted and completing prerequisites, you can simply send screenshots or unofficial transcripts to us at the SoN. you can send them to [email protected]. Don't forget UW Admissions will need an official copy as well to add to your student record. It's unfortunate our systems don't communicate. Lastly, I have transitioned from my Admissions/Recruitment role to the new Undergraduate Student Advisor! For Admissions/Recruitment business, you can start to email Cher Espina at [email protected]. She will be the point person until we hire my replacement. This news will impact those who wanted to meet with me in a few months to discuss their applications, as Cher will likely take those on. Hey All! As you all probably noticed, it's been a pretty crazy time at the SoN. We haven't been in the office since March and a lot of staff and faculty have been hard at work trying to maximize the current student experience so that everyone still has a solid education and graduates on time! We appreciate your patience. The GOOD NEWS is that this should not impact our admissions decisions timeline! I won't give any specific dates as everyone needs to remain pretty fluid during this time, but I'm hoping to get them out before the 17th (not the 27th ?). We may be making phone calls to admitted students (similar to how we announce ABSN admissions). Because everyone is remote, admitted students may receive calls from our personal cell phones. I know it's hard to answer unknown numbers but if you're getting a call (usually on a Friday), pick up! Anyways, that's it from me. As always, hope everyone is staying safe! Adrian

Hi All, I completed the prerequisite audit for admitted students but it turns out I need to redo the data in order to send it out via mail merge. I'm hoping to get this out by next week. Almost everyone is correct in their assessment in their application. So if you know you need to take a course, continue to take it. I will reach out to those in which I found errors. Adrian

Hi All, Congrats to those who made it to the proctored essay. As brendamatadiaz pointed out, we will ask 3 dosage questions and have a writing portion in which you'll pick a patient (out of 3) and tell us why and what you'd hope to learn/gain from selecting that patient. We obviously don't expect anyone to know how to treat them, but we're really looking to see what your thought process is, your critical thinking, etc. Try to think outside the box! For math, it helps to brush up on basic algebra, fractions, decimals, and long division. Most people trip up on doing long division and end up placing the decimal in the wrong spot. If you need practice with that, Khan Academy works great. For actual dosage question examples, dosagehelp.com is a helpful resource. This year, around 395 applicants were invited (about 15 more than last year). As always, our application pool is getting more and more competitive. I'll see you Wednesday! Good luck! Adrian

Hi All, I have just sent out an update on the ABSN Waitlist! I'll try and send updates when there is any additional movement on the waitlist. I am also confirming that we have received everyone's Intent to Register form (not to be confused with everyone accepting the offer). Adrian

Thank you all for your patience as we got all of our notifications out. I would like to echo everyone's sentiment to those not admitted this year. This is a very competitive program and narrowing down a field of highly capable and admissible nurses is very difficult. Don't give up! Whether it's at our program or another, your goal of becoming a nurse is still attainable! For those who are interested in meeting with me to discuss their application, please wait until May to contact me. My schedule book will not be open until then. I suggest setting some sort of reminder for May because I won't be able to actually schedule you until then. For those on the waitlist: Historically it's been significant movement. Last year we didn't go super far, however, the year prior went down to mid-30s. In regards to the "applying and being admitted to UW" part. In order to actually enter the ABSN program, you have to be an admitted UW student. This means applying to UW as a post-bacc by February 15. In January, we will send UW Admissions our list of admits so that they can admit everyone. The only time I've seen someone we've admitted that UW denies is if they don't turn in an application, they're incomplete or don't actually have a Bachelor's degree. My goal is to have notifications by next Friday! We will call our 64 Admits to let them know, if a random (206) number is calling next Friday, don't be scared to answer! ? Out of Area Proctor Test emails have been sent! Please ensure your proctor has received it. I've had to correct a few, so please make sure you've entered their email accurately! Remind them to check their junk/spam/clutter too. Once I have confirmation from them, I will send out the actual prompt by 5pm Monday. It's been a while since I've sent out any WL updates and unfortunately, there is still no news to share. I'm honestly pretty surprised at the lack of movement this year as we'd typically be 20 or so deep by now. Rest assured, I will notify EVERYONE as soon as something happens.

Definitely do the math first, and practice your long division and multiplication by hand! It's always hard to see applicants who you can tell have the right idea but forget to move a decimal or drop a zero somewhere.

Our review committee has to try and identify various qualities within applicants that match our core values. If capacity wasn't an issue, our jobs would be way easier. Hi All, Me and my team are working very hard to preliminarily review all of the applications so that we can get the invitations out. The snow closures have definitely thrown some wrenches at our timeline, but i'm hoping to get them out as soon as possible! Working from home does limit our resources which slows down the reviews a bit, as well as reviewers also trying to get our graduate admissions back on track. I'm surprised at how little traffic this forum has gotten. We're usually 6 pages deep by now! Just wanted to update everyone on how things are going with BSN Admissions. We received a little more than 550 applications, much less than I thought! I hope the low cohort number last year didn't sway people from applying this year. We are currently doing GPA calculations so that we can conduct our preliminary reviews to determine who will go to the Proctored Essay on Feb. 20. Hi All, Congratulations to everyone who were admitted this year! Our waitlist can be pretty dynamic. In the 5 or so years i've managed ABSN Admissions, around 30-40 offers come from the waitlist. This number definitely fluctuates year to year though. In my info sessions i've always emphasized that if you're on the waitlist, you should definitely take the necessary steps to be admitted. Sorry if this is confusing, but I hope it gives you a little context of what it means to be on the waitlist. For those not admitted, I'd be happy to discuss your application with you and ways you can improve. As stated in the email, we won't be able to meet until May. Please refrain from emailing/calling to request a meeting as we have now shifted our full attention to BSN Admissions. Try to use this time for honest reflection on areas you think can use improvement. For example, while you may have "good" experience, did you do a good job of conveying it or selling it on your resume? Lastly, if anyone hasn't received an email decision, please let me know.
