  1. shenanigans_RN- Thank you for some actual input on using a stethoscope with a daith piercing! I wasn't sure if the bottom of the piercing would rub up against the ear piece and be uncomfortable. For now, my clinical instructors are fine with it and the hospital I work for is also fine with it :) I'm sorry you didn't have such luck! Maybe someday (if there isn't too much scar tissue) you can re-pierce them
  2. vintagemother- I got my tragus done originally 11 years ago! It closed up when I took it out for surgery a few years back, and it closed up. I got it done again over the summer and it healed up even better than the first time :) Haha! I'm not sure I could handle a VCH!! Good Luck if you do decide to go through with that!
  3. sailornurse- The inner piece of cartilage. My apologies.
  4. I know it's not literally the inner ear, I figured that'd be obvious. No need to research. Sorry, the inner piece of cartilage. Better?
  5. vintagemother- I got a very short post on my tragus with a flat back and it doesn't affect it at all, I'm lucky! When I first got my tragus done, those options weren't available so I think its fairly new! If you're still having trouble with your your steth/tragus I'd suggest going to a piercing shop and looking into it :) Also lucky for me my clinical instructors are very laid back about piercings. The handbook states one piercing per ear (in any part) but our instructors told us as long as there are no large hoops/dangling earrings we're fine! So I'll just have my tragus in one ear and daith in the other! I'm going to ask the piercer his/her opinion too on whether or not it'd interfere with a stethoscope. Hopefully all works out well!
  6. springchick1- I know there's no proof, but suffering from migraines I'm willing to try anything! Plus, I wanted it before that information came out. My clinical instructors allow one piercing per ear, anywhere on the ear as long as it is reasonable. A few people in my class have their rook pierced (right above) and our instructors do not care. Thanks!
  7. Hi all! I'm a first year nursing student. I've always wanted my daith (inner ear) pierced and I just recently heard there's a chance this piercing can help with migraines (which I suffer from). Before I go and get it, I was wondering if any of you have yours pierced and if it interfered with your stethoscope? I already have my tragus pierced and that isn't bother but I'm not sure how a new piercing in that location would cooperate. Thanks!
