  3. Hey Guys, So I received good news yesterday, that I finally passed my NCLEX-RN on the 3rd attempt! Here's a little summary of my journey through it all. First Attempt: · Used Kaplan qbank and in-class review · Scored high 50s – low 60s on the qbank, question trainers, and sample test · Did not fully review the rationales · Failed at 165 questions in 2.5 hours · Felt depressed and bitter · Went into hiding for about a month with no outside contact with anyone but family Second Attempt: · Used Kaplan qbank again · Scored high 60s – low 70s (only because I've gone through the whole qbank once already) · Reviewed the rationales but did not organize them · Felt confident, memorized the rationales · Failed at 75 questions in 2.5 hours · Spiraled further into depression and bitterness · I could no longer go into hiding so basically I lied to friends and family about passing Third Attempt: · Enrolled in a local preparation course and ATI, subscribed to UWorld · Local preparation course was a refresher of content · I used ATI as a fail-safe mechanism, meaning I did not study my content from it but rather used it as an assurance that I was ready to go · I used UWorld as a means for practice and content review · Mock exams from local preparation course indicated that I would pass, got the green light from ATI, and scored 63% average on the UWorld qbank · I felt confident but there is a lingering sense of doubt in the back of my head · Passed at 75 questions in 1 hour · I've never felt such a relief of burden off my shoulders, now I'm off to start my career My Advice: · Enroll in a refresher course for nursing content · UWorld · Understand NOT memorize rationales · UWorld · And again UWorld My Gift: · Email me at [email protected] · I can e-mail you my notes and answer any questions you may have Best of luck to you all!
  4. We get caught up in numbers and percentages a lot. We often neglect the idea that the most important aspect of any review, or learning for that matter, is remediation and truly understanding the content/rationales. Just remember that. I've made that mistake twice and hopefully I learned that lesson this time around and hopefully I have some good news on the way. Best of luck to you.
  5. I greatly empathize with you. I've failed the NCLEX twice and recently took it for my final attempt and waiting for the results. I wish you all the best. And if I can suggest one thing, I would strongly recommend subscribing to UWorld for your next review. The program also has an app for your phone and the rationales are great.
  6. I've taken the Kaplan Qbank and I would say it was similar to the NCLEX. My problem with Kaplan though is that the rationales were not really detailed. If you want to take a further step up in difficulty AND get detailed rationales (in my opinion, the most important aspect of a review) I suggest giving UWorld a shot. Best wishes!
  7. I hoped you passed! By the way are you a Canadian student? I noticed that you indicated your 3rd attempt will be your final.
  8. Congratulations!
  9. Hey I know how it feels to fail for the 2nd time and I can empathize with you. The feeling totally sucks. But with that being said you do not know for sure until you get the official results and until then there is nothing you can do but patiently wait. Try to get your mind off of things and go out or have a drink or go see your family. Don't give up and let the past four years of getting your degree go to waste. Best of luck!
  10. I have experience with both and in my honest opinion stick to UWorld. The rationales are just so detailed and easy to understand. The last question trainer from Kaplan is miles behind the Qbank for UWorld.
  11. Hey man congratulations! It's weird that I was almost exactly like you in university. But unfortunately for me I didn't pass the first two times and now that I'm on my third attempt I'm feeling super anxious. I used UWorld and ATI this time around for studying and I was able to average 62% on the Qbank. I've gone through the rationales in detail. I got my green light from ATI. Do you think that's good enough? I do feel way more prepared than the last two times.
  12. It's kind of weird actually. On my first attempt I was able to score above the passing standard on everything except: health promotion, management of care, and physiological adaptations. On my second attempt I ended up doing worse than before, with everything scoring below the passing standard. I just don't know what happened there. My ATI coach was also able to identify those 3 same areas as my weaknesses and made me do a lot of assignments on them. So yes, I think I've worked diligently in remediating these specific areas.
  13. Greetings allnurses members, I am a Canadian nursing graduate that will be attempting the NCLEX-RN for the third and final time (provincial board only allows 3 tries). Am I ready? I've used Kaplan to review for the first two attempts and averaged in high 50s for all the trainers and Qbank questions. Unfortunately that wasn't enough so I decided to switch-up my review regimen. I enrolled in a local NCLEX prep course and according to their mock exams I should be able to pass the NCLEX "on a good day". I also enrolled for ATI and received my green light today. The predictor indicated that I would have a 98% chance of passing the NCLEX. I was also able to use the UWorld Qbank and having gone through all the questions I was able to average 62%. Are there any of you here that have had similar experiences, if so how did it go? How accurate is the ATI predictor? What average should I have been getting for the UWorld Qbank? Should I schedule my exam ASAP? I have so many questions but those are what I can think of right now. Your advice and suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Many Thanks I will update my post detailing my journey and experience once I pass the NCLEX, hopefully.
