  1. I took the TEAS V to get into a local BSN program, but 2 hours after being accepted into the spring 2016 program, my husband walked in the door telling me the military was moving us to Alaska! So, here I am in Alaska trying to get into this local BSN program and they only accept the Kaplan exam (how convenient ). University of Alaska recommends the Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exam (6th Ed.) book, but they failed to leave out the "s" at the end of "exam" in their notes. I went and bought the book thinking its for that exam since, you know, it has KAPLAN in the name, but low-and-behold it's non-specific to any nursing exam:no:. Reviews on multiple websites said that it didn't help at all for the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam, and now I'm over here wondering what the heck the actual format of the exam will be like. The study guide for the TEAS V was Uh-MAZZINGGG, and I ended up making a 94 with a 100% on the science portion, because I went through the entire book 4 times and did all of the TEAS V websites exams (they're worth every penny!!). But alas I cannot find anything specific to the Kaplan exam ONLY. I want a study guide with material similar to that test and an overview of what type of questions I will see on that test, instead of studying physics for hours in this booklet when there's no physics even on the Kaplan! Anyone have any good material they used for the Kaplan Entrance Exam that didn't seem to waste your time on unnecessary material? I'm going crazy over here searching the dangerous depths of Google and Amazon, so I'm hoping my fellow nursing students can reel me back in!
  2. Life throws some unexpected turns, doesn't it? I was accepted to our local universities BSN program for spring 2016. Yay, right? Well, I received that letter of acceptance at 9:30am on a Wednesday morning a while back, and I waited for my husband to come home on lunch to show him the letter, bursting with anticipation! Too bad that, before I could even show him my acceptance letter, he handed me his orders to be stationed at a base 4000 miles away at the beginning of next year. What. The. Heck. SO! Now that I'm over the fact I took a bunch of classes that other nursing programs don't require, and I'm finally calming down on the fact that the BSN program at the university where I'm moving to only accepts 16 students A YEAR, I need a bit of advice! My local university required the TEAS V test, and I made a 94. The BSN program where I am moving to requires the KAPLAN. Pretty much life loves throwing extra curve balls, so I now have to take the KAPLAN. Has anyone taken both? How did the tests compare in terms of difficulty? I realize the grading scale is different, but I'm just trying to get an idea of what I am up against here, since I have to go through this ridiculous stress of getting into a nursing program AGAIN. I've contemplated throwing in the towel, but I gotta just keep pushing forward with this speed bump. And maybe cry a little.
