LVN new grad needs advice please!
What I was taught in school was that you don't give what you didn't prepare or you don't draw up and let someone else give it for you. And other questions include "why do you order labs before the doctor even sees the patient (such as RSV or flu tests)" " i was taught to not take the shortcut and take the full minute to count the apical pulse and respiratory rate on children and infants because of irregular heart rhythms" (they love the short cuts to that) they didn't know about the ventrogluteal site being the most recommended for IM injections besides the vastus lateralus and the deltoid. (They gave it in the old site which I don't recall the name for but was no longer recommend because of the proximity to the spinal cord) And I'd question the needle lengths because they say all vaccines except MMR and Varicella are IM so use the 1in needle...yes im aware of that but some of the children are way to thin for a 1in needle it'll touch their bone and I'd suggest caging the needle size. Theyre response would be " because it slows everyone down and we don't have time for that"

LVN new grad needs advice please!
They expected me to work by myself after 4 wks of training. And yeah i don't agree with preparing the vaccines before the doctor even leaves the pt room but that's how they trained me to do it because if I waited it'll take too much time. And they fired me because I wasn't were they wanted me to be (too slow and I didn't agree with how they ran things and questioned them alot) and yeah i would float then be with one doctor for a day and if i didn't draw up the vaccines for them they would get mad and say I'm slowing everything and everyone down, which in the end is huge room for errors

LVN new grad needs advice please!
This is my first Nursing job and first job ever. So i wouldnt have an employment gap. Mistakes at the job where part of the fact it was so fast paced. Like you'd walk into one room triage and when you get out the doctor wants you to do other things aside from that patient so u don't finish the patient you just triaged. And medications are a huge deal because I'd prepare them (mainly vaccines) have them ready so when the doctor comes out of the room i can give it, and I'm sent of to do whatever else they wanted me too and I come back and see that they are gone, turns out a MA gives them and they told me it'd better that way so it can run much faster and i tell them time and time again that I want to prepare my vaccines and give them myself but they completely disagree with me. And I've honestly gotten in trouble for that. For not "following there procedure and for not being faster" because I take my time to make sure everything is right. They got tired of it and fired me actually.....

LVN new grad needs advice please!
Hello everyone, I've recently started reading and became a member of this site( in which I absolutely love), and i have a question because I've recently decided, as for this who know my pediatric clinic experience, I decided to look for another job because I feel like my license is in jeopardy here. Too many room for mistakes, unorganized and very very fast paced, and unfortunately some mistakes have happened in the clinic in which I was blamed for. If you guys want to know what it is I'll explain but back to my question. If I decide to apply to other places, should I add this short term job (about 2 months) on my resume because of the experience? Or should I not add it? Since I've heard that sometimes HR has a way to look jobs up and leaving it out can consider me to be lying. I don't know what to do and i gratefully appreciate any advice I can get :)

My LVN job considers me as an MA...feeling unappreciated and very stressed...NEED ADVICE!
In my state LVN can do telephone triage but must have an RN or a physician within reach if any questions erupt and LVN can also have a set guide to show us step by step the process to make decisions.

There is no nurses there only me. And that's exactly what I think, that if I do triage there and have to report to the MA, I'm risking my license there. I'm supposed to have a meeting with the bosses (which are pediatricians) to see I've gotten "faster" and " more efficient", and I'm going to voice this concern because like all of us on here, we've worked hard to get our licensures to just lose our license and let alone get someone hurt.

They needed a nurse to do telephone triage( which I should mention turns out I will be trained and to report to a MA for that, in which honestly I'm risking my license there) so they know I'm an LVN but they consider me an MA. And the MA there act like they are nurses, call themselves nurses which I politely tell them they are not licensed so they shouldn't call themselves nurses. The thing that is holding me back is the fact it'll be too soon( little over a month) and it might look bad in my record. But if im definitely considering looking for another job. I just needed advice because I'm Inexperienced and i do plan on going back to school to get my RN :)

Having a mental breakdown..
Thank you for the hug i really need it. I work in the Houston, Texas area. And I've been told to also look for another job because it's not safe and they demand way too much from me (in the end I had 43 patients) and ive been in a couple of situations were the MAs confused themselves like "omg did i give the right vaccines to the right patient... did I pull the, right ones....which ones did i forget" and i havent gotten to that position nor I ever will but it is taking a toll on me because I do feel like I'm practicing unsafely. I'm really am considering quitting this job. But that, was my main fear, what will my future employer think of me and my ability if I quit to soon.

Having a mental breakdown..
Im Recent graduate in september. I looked for a job and the first job offer is what i acceoted which was at a pediatric clinic. I've been working in a pediatric clinic for over 1 month now and I'm already told that I'm "supposed to be on my own by now" and that "I'm too slow" and that i need "to move faster". Considering I am assigned to a doctor who has average of 20-30 pt, a day. I try my very best to do it quickly but safely and yet they expect me to do everything for them in such a short amount of time. At the clinic there is so much confusion and lots of things going on at once it's crazy! Everyday i walk in there (I get there early) and I already am behind by 3-4 patients and I'm trying to catch up while doctors are barking orders and expect them to be done. Tomorrow I have 41 patients. The MAs are the nurses in the facility. They do referalls, telephone triage, administration of vaccine and medications, start breathing treatments, do labs, basically everything and they want me to work under a MA for telephone triage. I feel like my license is at stake as well as my mentality because this is the worst experience ever. Every night I go home crying and i go to work crying and dreading the day. Don't get me wrong I love working with the kids but I feel like my license is in danger in this facility( and the pay sucks. ..16/hr) , but I'm one month in the job and i feel like if I quit now it'll look really bad in my record. I really need advice because I'm in a hard place and I'm Inexperienced so any advice can help.

My LVN job considers me as an MA...feeling unappreciated and very stressed...NEED ADVICE!
Hello, I'm a recent LVN grad (graduated Aug 2015) and i recently got a job at a pediatric clinic. First job ever, no job in the past and so I have no experience and i took this job because you know, you have to start somewhere. It started of great, loved the patients and my co workers are nice. But ive recently noticed that, we'll I've been working for 4 weeks now and I'm being treated as a MA. I haven't done any real nursing and the doctos refer to me as their MA. It's frustrating not only because of the lack of title appreciation but the pay sucks too. $16/hr. Dont get me started on the patient load. We have 7 doctors in total and you get assigned to one and they have at least 25-30 patients A DAY. In total that olace treata over 200 patients a day. Its crazy you have so much to do in short time, lota of pressure and im working as best as i can and i dont get any acknowledgement of how hard im working, but more like making me work FASTER. This is making me very stressed and depressed. Im not sure what to make of this because I've barely started my nursing career and new to whole job world. So i need help with finding encouragement to continue this job or should I just quit and start elsewhere. And how long should I wait until I can truly be sure this isn't right for me?
