  1. I wish we worked on cadavers versus books. That's pretty amazing. I'm 32, this is my 5th semester and I have one kiddo, a small farm, work part time and commute about 100 miles a day to make all this work....it's hard but what's harder? The guilt of not reaching your potential or the struggle of making it work? You've got this!!
  2. Yea, I have a B in anatomy (lab) and a B in lecture (physiology)
  3. I ended up with a B in anatomy and a B in physiology.
  4. How exciting. I wish my area had more forensics and pathology courses, or any for that matter. I'd love to know how it goes!!!
  5. That's what I'm working on now, trying to figure out my learning style. I'm hoping taking a different professor for AP2 will help. And that's it, I can recall portions but not concepts and more detailed ideas every time. I'm going to take one less class and give it even more time next semester. Thank you for the encouragement.
  6. Did you learn to walk the first time you tried? Speak the first time you heard a word? Ride a bike the first time you saw one? No. It's new to me, I'm an older student, I'm doing it. Thank you for your concern. Are you asking me if I want something more than the possibility of me being able to do it? I don't live a life that uses the word try, hope, wish, dream, I live a life that's simple, "did or didn't" it's all there is. I am doing it. I am succeeding at it. I'm 32 and a first generation college student, I just finished a year and have my first B (I'm hard as hell on myself and have A's up to this point) I sat in a room where kids with bio and Chem backgrounds dropped and I held out and put in time. Could I of done more? Sure. We all can. All I inquired about was how things looked from here. I don't need someone encouraging me to quit because they have made a radical assumption about my ability in a program. I'm confident in my ability to weather far greater obstacles than this. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to comment.
  7. Congrats on getting in!!!! You're doing the BSN program? I wish they had more information on it for those of us looking at the program.
  8. Thank you. You're right, it isn't easy, I do have a family, a job, run a rescue farm and drive at least 100 miles a day to make it all happen. Assumption is such a weakness for some people. I'm not taking it personally..... With that aside, thank you again! I wish I had been advised to take a prep course prior to the class but I wasn't. Now I know what I do and plan to take one less class next semester to help free up even more time for physiology. Fingers crossed. Not happy about derailing the plan a bit but I'd rather have a grade I can be proud of than one I wish I could retake!
  9. Thank you. I'm 32 years old and this person has my life figured out.
  10. Assuming is never, ever an educated way to do anything. With anatomy I logged a minimum of 2 hours, this was the minimum, most days were 2-3 prior to class and at least 2 after, lab was once a week but I was in the learning center with models daily, I have the logs to show this? Physiology: class 3 times a week, online modules 3-5 times a week (2 hour minimum each) and I recorded my lectures, took notes during, replayed the lectures and rewrote my notes after. This reviewing power points and additional material. Your assumptions are astonishingly inaccurate. I have been out of school for 12 years with no bio or Chem background. I struggle with concepts in physiology but have done pretty well for someone in my shoes. Thank you for your encouragement!
  11. That's my biggest issue. I'm at Tallahassee community and can't repeat a class that has a C or better.....this policy is killing me. I was A's until this semester.
  12. Just getting grades back. My anatomy is at a B, Physiology C, am I doomed at this point?
  13. Thank you for the encouragement. I am truly grateful for it. This is a challenging journey but I'm doing it. These next couple of weeks are going to be anxiety filled!
  14. Don't apologize for seeking advice! That's what the forum is here for :) I was out of school for about 12 or so years before starting college for the first time, yikes! This is my 4th semester. I am taking AP 1 lab and lecture with stats2 and my last history course, thank goodness! I would of prefered to take AP on it's own as I've found physiology challenging, but I was advised over and over it would be ok. I'd say no. For me personally at least. Next semester I am slated to take AP2 lab and lecture with humanities 1 and another math. ugh... I am hoping they release the schedule for summer and I can see about taking physiology alone then. We shall see! Good luck in whatever path you choose!
  15. I wish overnight was an option but with a kiddo I just can't work overnight. My partner works overnight 3-4 days a week (veterinarian) and we wouldn't have childcare. What hours do you work? I was also considering volunteering with our hospice company! We have a couple here in town and I know for sure that one allows volunteers. I would like to work in hospice at some point too. Thank you for your tips!
  16. Is that the same as a PSAV? I see that certificate under my schools nursing assistant area. Nvm answered my own question!
  17. Hi there, I'm trying to figure out what kind of job I can get while in school or an idea on who likes hiring those of us working toward our nursing degree. Right now I'm working on my prereqs but would like to find something part time so I can afford health insurance and gain experience. I'm an older student (32) and have work experience just no degree I can use. Thank you for your help!
  18. I've had a little girl in a class (when I taught) named Lark!!!
  19. Thank you for your encouragement. I'm hoping you're right! I will keep you posted. Praying I can find my motivation after having the wind knocked out of my sails. Thank you again!

  21. Might as well be failing going by nursing standards! :
  22. Thank you so much for your encouragement. Truly. It's so easy to feel all alone in this journey. I am in a constant stressed out state with this class. I want so badly to understand the information and truly be able to apply it. It's frustrating. I'm a first time (and first generation!) college student (I'm 32, this is my 4th semester) and this class is so foreign. I find that I have amazing relationships with all of my professors (friendships, guests at my scholarship ceremonies etc) yet this one professor and I just don't spark. I don't take it personally but it does make my anxiety about this class higher. He knows it's a tough class so at least he understands I guess. I've inquired about extra credit and he was very stern about the fact that he doesn't give extra credit or curve grades. Never mind 16 out of 20 or so of us failing our last test. I have the online work to finish (it will replace my lowest grade) one test, the final and I believe he mentioned an in class assignment/points available to earn thing. I just fear doing poorly on the test and final and pushing my grade even further down Thank you again. I am so glad knowing that someone out there is encouraging me along! I will keep you posted!
  23. Thank you! I am hoping I can pull it up. This is my 4th semester and first time struggling this hard... not a fun feelings!
