ADN or BSN
Hello everyone, I'm in need of some feedback. I've been taking my prerequisites at a community college since 2013. Yes, I've been in school for about 4 years. Part time and full time off and on. Mainly due to working 2 jobs. I have finally got some stability with one job, thank you God. My dilemma is that I applied to UTA's BSN program last year and was denied to a D in one of my classes that I later made up with a A. Since I was denied I decided to get into my community colleges nursing program. However, I look at the fact that I still have about 5 left to take for the ADN program. The time I go to apply to the program, it will be near the year I could apply to to UTA's program. I work at a hospital as a PCT and the hospital has a ADN program attached to my community college. If I go into that program, they pay for the program, books and I also sign a contract to work for them for 2 years. I understand working at this same hospital I can have tuition reimbursement for working only 6 months. I know I could use that for my BSN, whether I take the ADN route or not. So Im just need help with pros and cons. And some really good feedback before I make a decision.

Help! Why am I not getting an interview or hired?
Sorry for the late response. You were correct. After passing the CNA state exam last month, a month later I got offered a position on the ICU floor.

Why I had reconsidered being a nurse
I am finding that not all hospitals are like this. I applied for a PCT position at the same hospital and I have an interview. I haven't let the rude behavior get to me anymore.

Help! Why am I not getting an interview or hired?
I've been putting applications in since last year and have gotten a lot of emails of rejection. I currently work at a hospital and spoke to HR about my applications, she forward them to the managers. I just recently finished my CNA course and will be taking the state exam next month. I have 2 years of nursing home experience and 9 months as a hospital housekeeping. I've had my CPR since April. So I'm wondering why haven't I gotten an interview yet. I referred my coworker to talk to HR about the same position I was applying for this month and within weeks she got hired. But I haven't heard anything from HR or any managers. It's making me want to give up. I'm not sure what else to do. I'm wondering if it's because I'm going to school for nursing and the hospital has a nursing program I'm trying to get into.

Why I had reconsidered being a nurse
I do know that right now I'm sensitive to me,because it's a new environment. I'm used to being a nursing home setting. And for the past few days I haven't tried to take it personally. I will try to have a positive attitude and not let those affect me. Thank you for your response.

Why I had reconsidered being a nurse
If I didnt think it was something sensitive care or a private matter, I would had never put it in my post. I'm very respectful when it comes to letting the nurses go in first before me and waiting until they are done with their care. I never try to be in their way at all. Even when they get in the room while I'm cleaning, I will step out and wait. But these doors shut in my face are not from anything you stated they are doing. Sometimes they are simply throwing something away, looking at the patient ( not touching them or checking anything) or just simply washing their hands and walking out. I'm not complaining at all in my post about nurses in general or the nurses at my job, I simply stated that their attitudes and how they have treated me while I was doing my, pushed me away from becoming a nurse. Because I understand it's a stressful job, but I don't understand why you would take it out on someone that isn't from your department.

Why I had reconsidered being a nurse
Im not sure where you are getting an attitude from my post. I just talked about what is going on at my hospital. I understand it's not like this everywhere. And I know no one owes me anything for doing my job. All I said, was the rudeness from the some of ICU nurses on the floor, made me rethink about becoming a nurse. A lot people are making me feel like I'm complaining or crying or having an attitude, when all I'm sharing is how I almost didn't want to be a nurse. Some of the comments showed me it's not everywhere and maybe the nurses are just always in a bad mood and that some people are just really rude and I don't have to be that.

Why I had reconsidered being a nurse
I did figure that. I know that the location that we are at, causes it to be very stressful for the nurses and doctors. We are located in a more urban area. So it's a lot of stabbings and gun shot wounds. I just try to stay friendly because we don't get the best out of the family members either. But you made a point, I'm probably taking their reactions too personal.

Thank you. I agree

Why I had reconsidered being a nurse
I do understand that nurses are treated poorly. No, I don't have self-esteem issues. The only thing that is new to me is working in a hospital setting. If I were the only person feeling this way, I wouldn't have posted it, but my employees feel the same way. I can say I have worked every job ( retail, call centers, fast food) and have had decent feelings from them all. I have just never worked in an environment that I have a passion for and am going to school for and just felt invisible. I'm on the floor everyday and it's like no one acknowledges you.

Why I had reconsidered being a nurse
I'm a housekeeping for a hospital. I've been a housekeeping for 7 months while finishing my prerequisites for nursing school. I enjoy my job sometimes, but sometimes I feel as if I settled. So I enrolled in a CNA class ( I have previous experience, I am just not certified). Our supervisors already make us feel unappreciated, because in the hospital setting hospital keepers are seen as the lowest of the low ( trash people, maids, ect). I work in the ICU unit and I clean rooms and nurses stations. I enjoy my area, because I want to be an ICU nurse, but I'm not treated at all like a human at my job. Nurses have constantly walked over, have not acknowledged me ( a simple good morning or hello), I've had doors shut in my face as I was going in the rooms to clean, they have thrown things on the ground and come find me to pick it up. There were times a nurse would take their frustration out of me, because I'm doing my job and not trying to be in their way, but I'm just annoying them. The nurses harass the housekeepers more than our supervisors and it's just not pleasant. I have just felt really bad in the position that I'm currently in and I look at the nurses, that I want to be and they just treat the people who helped them out like they don't exist. It made me not want to be a nurse, because I feel they think they are better than the position I have. I have spoken to some and they are shocked that I am a student and have been pursuing nursing for the past 3 years, but the treatment is never changed. I don't want to be in a position and overlook everyone who does their job in the hospital, because I have found out that housekeeping and other positions really do hold the hospital. So I tried other careers and tried to apply to different colleges to step away from nursing, but I didn't get in. I guess what I am saying is that, I almost stop being a nurse because I don't want overlook people in general or just treated other people like crap.

UTA AP BSN program Fall 17
That is a positive mindset to look at it. I ask my advisor was it possible to retake the class, pass and reapply. She told me that I could do that, but I would still have to wait until 2019 to reapply. Another option she told me was to go for my ADN and then apply for their RN to BSN, which I think I'm going to go for. This is my first degree. So for the past 4 years, I've working my butt off, with a full time job to try to get my Bachelor's but I guess God has another path for me. I wish you good luck with the program, you get in. Hopefully you will not have to wait too long.

UTA AP BSN program Fall 17
Hello everyone! So unfortunately I will not be attending UTA's AP BSN program due to a grade that I received some semesters ago. I was denied to start in the Fall of 2017. My grade will expire in 2019, which is a 3 year setback for me. I am going to retake the class and pass it but I will not be attending UTA which I am very upset about, because this was the school I wanted to get in. I want to know if anyone knew any AP BSN programs in Texas that I could possibly apply to. I live in Dallas, TX. Thank you all for your encouragement to each other and I wish yall the best of luck!

UTA AP BSN program Fall 17
So I'm trying to see anyone is going to apply for UTA's AP BSN program the fall of 2017. I have been following threads and trying to get some information about how this program is set up. I did my application to the school last year for the Fall of this year. I'm trying to knock out my science classes, but I have withdrawal from my biology class 4 times and Im wanting to take my chemistry over the summer. Possibly doing my other 2 sciences with UTA. I haven't taken the Hesi A2, I plan to take that around the Fall. So, I just like us to update with each other and encourage each other to get into the program. I would do my stats, but I haven't taken gotten them yet. As soon as Im finished, I will post them. Everyone is free to post theirs

Failing Statistics. Do I have a chance at passing?
I understand they are strict. Its needed to stay focus and dedicated to it. I have put in misinformation on my calendar and never double checked myself. I was always a day off. This is my 4th online class. My other 3, I had a math class and passed it. Ive just been unorganized.
