I passed meds for the 1st time yesterday. My instructor told us who we were going to give meds to and told us to do our research and I had 40 minutes because my patient had 6 meds. Before I administered the med my instructor asked me about each med and what it's used for and why my pt is getting it and ect..and then it came to Lisinopril because my patient had high BP. He asked me what labs would I check for it and I said creatinine but forgot about potassium completely even though we had an exam on HTN a week prior and I got a 92%. He told me potassium and asked me what would happen to his potassium with this drug and i forgot that too even though I knew ACEI raise potassium levels but because I was so nervous I mixed it up. After med admin he explained to me that I didn't check pt's creatinine because the creatinine is high but because that's the pt's baseline it was ok that I gave it but that I need to know the reason behind why the pt could still get the med. I feel so stupid tbh and now I doubt myself so much. How do I retain the information after exams? Because after every exam I forget the info within a week..
