  1. Hi everyone I'm new here, I wanted to join he All Nurses community in hopes of some much need advice. I will try to make it short as possible. My question is regarding myself, who was just convicted of a Class C petty larceny misdemeanor last month, and is wondering is I should pursue my dream in nursing. I know this is selfish of me to even consider, but I honestly haven't thought about the repercussions of my mistake until I thought about my future. Life had me down in the dumps. I was involuntarily laid off a job I've been with 4 years, broke and not having barely money to pay rent or successfully obtaining health insurance, I shoplifted a bottle of Excedrin for my migraines. Stupid mistake! So...I have 12 months probation Unsupervised, no fines issued and charged with petty larceny. So, posts on here by all of you have inspired me to reach out to fellow nurses in regards to past convictions and possibilities of still being a nurse. Is it still possible? I do understand every single thing is different in regards to what state I live in (Virginia), what nursing schools will accept you, IF you will be eligible for a License, and if you are able to do clinicals and find a job etc. etc. All of this is making nervous as to 'IF' and 'HOW' I should continue that route. But all I'm asking is for some honest advice. I am currently 31, entering college in 2 months and planning on joining the Navy. (my apologies for the bad grammar, typing in the field here in sloooowww.)
