  1. Thanks a bunch from everyone who gave input. I called board and told them the work place situation and wanted to self report. In meantime I signed an agreement with hospital to do eval with eap and come back to work under contract that is subject to random drug testing and other stuff. Will see if I can do that until board says otherwise. Told them my employer did not terminate me but instead wanted to keep me employed
  2. Okay so you reported to board and got setup in recovery program then by time board saw case they just said continue forward. I'm going to report to board. Guess my question is does board say stop working automatically or they have wait for everything. They told me if report to board and recovery program then I stop work immediately, sign agreement, start therapy. With having support family I need go back now or find labor outside nursing asap
  3. So I'm a nurse in Louisiana and just had a lot happen at work. Basically they thought I was using narcs(dilaudid) in particular at work and stuff. My manager met with me and I told her I was not and was subjected to urine drug screen. Results were negative for dilaudid or stuff in question. However I was positive for something else that I explained to her and she understood. With that being said they will not fire me if I go to their outside therapist and get evaluated. Once release letter given I can return under a contract that involves random drug screens. They said I need to report to board of nursing my positive urine screen and they are going to soon. My manager said I can call and self report to recovery officer and get in nrp. I'm scared if this happens they will tell me not to work and process begins. I have 2 year old and 2 week old at home. Question is do I report to board and wait till they investigate case and begin work immediately at same hospital. Or do I report to recovery and start. I've heard rn's being able to work jobs they were not fired at for up to almost 2 years before board does case and suspends license. If that's the case I have a place of employment. And I can continue to work until license is suspended and then do the recovery program. What is the route yall would take? I have been a nurse for 7 years no disciplinary actions or charges. Thanks a bunch I have been reading and getting a lot of useful feedback.
