Frontier NPs not well trained?
I went through a lot to decide on which online FNP program to attend. I even made a spread sheet. For many different reasons, I decided on Frontier School of Nursing. I know many nurse practitioners and midwives that have attended this program and have good things to say about it. So here is my problem...one of the midwives at my place of work is a teacher and clinical instructor for another university. She told me I should absolutely avoid Frontier because the students are not well prepared for clinicals and even went so far as to tell me that they just seem clueless. She also said that her place of work will not accept students from Frontier for clinicals. This worries me... I am hoping to hear from Frontier students or people who have experience with Frontier students if they think that Frontier prepares students for FNP practice? Thank you, Amy

Help...Trying to choose an online FNP program
Thank you for all the feedback. I have taken statistics and understand the importance of it. I just don't want to pay to retake a class I already have under my belt. My statistics class was taken long enough ago that Frontier won't accept it. Other programs will still take it. Unfortunately I live in the mountains of Colorado, so a "local" program is not an option for me. The closest school is in Albuquerque which is a four hour drive. Next is Denver-6 hour drive. This is why an online option is the best for me. Has anyone heard anything about Maryville? Thank you, Amy

Help...Trying to choose an online FNP program
Hi all, Here is what I have narrowed down to my choices for an online FNP program and I need info from students who have attended so I can make my choice: Frontier: Love this school but not that fact that I have to retake statistics or travel to Kentucky. I know it has a great reputation though. If you did attend this program, where did you take your statistics and why? The Froniter one is like $3500!!! Maryville University: Love that I do not have to travel or take statistics but the reviews are not great. I like to think education is what you put into it though. Has anyone attended this school recently? Info I can find on these boards is several years old and the program was pretty new still. University of Colorado, CS: Good reputation, but very expensive and I have not recieved an email back after requesting more information weeks ago. Also they only start programs once a year in Fall and I would like to get going on this before I am too old to see my textbooks. Any other FNP online programs I should check out? Thank you for your input.
