I'd drop the nursing program. Not only will you have wasted tine + money on a BSN if that's not what you really want, you will also be less likely to return to school and it's very unlikely you could juggle doing well in your pre-reqs + a nursing schedule therefore you won't even be earning nursing money while back in school. Focus on your med school application.

Kind of like the "but did you die?" response? The OP's attitude just seems immature and unfortunately I don't think that's a joke, I think they are serious. That said, there are clearly jokes within my post as well

Instead of annoying a good amount of your fellow nurses (oh wait...) why don't you go on over to Purse Forum and ask them how to spend an extra $1500 a month "fam"? Ironically they'll probably tell you to oh I don't know... save it as $1500 will hardly even cover one luxury item. Or you can take that $1500 a month and give a new car salesman free reign, ask a Bloomingdale's associate to help you spend it, do something nice for your mother, etc... There are tons of ways to blow $1500 none of which you need nurses to tell you about. Actually you know, nurses tend to be a practical bunch so you probably won't get the answers you're looking for here. How you earn your "disposable" income hardly has anything to do with how you spend it.

My biggest concern is that you said you want to use nursing to branch into a PCP position. You don't need to be a nurse to go to medical school, why not just continue being a lab tech while completing med school prerequisites?

So let's say someone wants to work in medicine, but definitely wouldn't cut it as an RN personality wise. Why would they decide to become an NP rather than an MD? Because it's an easier path in general? Genuine question, hopefully no one is offended by the "easier" wording I'm just curious. I've never really paid much attention to the nursing structure. I'm just now taking notice when a nurse treating me is an lpn vs rn.
