  1. I have a friend who I graduated from nursing school with, who has told me recently that she is able to work 3-1-3 split shift at her job. Here is her words exactly "I work 3 days, off 1 day, work 3 more, then off 7 days, repeat." I would love to be able to work shifts like this. My question is, is this easy to accomplish? Is it common or uncommon? How hard is it to get a schedule like this? I have only been a nurse for a year, and have just worked at one location and facility so far, so I'm not sure how flexible other facilities and hospitals are with scheduling. Any advice or information would be appreciated. : )
  2. I am just starting to get into travel nursing. My question is, is it easy to keep getting travel assignments for one specific city. Or is this a hard task to accomplish? For example, I really want to work in Orlando, but I don't want to move there necessarily. It would be ideal if I could find travel work repeatedly there and be able to go there often. Thanks. : )
  3. So, I'm anticipating administering meds via nasogastric tube, and I know that you have to crush the meds and mix with water to administer. My question is a simple one, but I'm just not sure. Do you crush each med individually and give them one by one? Or do you crush them all and give them all together all at once? Much Thanks!!
  4. Does anyone know of a good website that has all nursing skills listed and the all the steps for the skills? For example, starting IV's, Trach suctioning, IV push, Catheter insertion, etc. It would be very helpful if there was a site I could go to that had all the correct steps listed for each of the skills. I am in my fourth level of school, and thought it would be a good idea to print out the steps for the skills and bring them with me to clinical just in case I forget how to do something, thanks!
