  1. Yeah I realize I phrased that poorly. I know living arrangements is something I'll set up.
  2. I suppose I'll have to wait until I have orders to really know then. Thanks.
  3. This is a question to anyone who has experience having been selected for AF nursing. Is the assignment in your offer letter exactly where you are stationed/live/work? For example, I was selected for he AF in critical care nursing and my offer letter says Fort Belvoir, MD (which is confusing since it is an army post and actually located in Virginia). Is it my understanding that I will actually live on Fort Belvoir if we decide to go for on base housing? Or will I live on a near by AF base and commute? Recruiter couldn't shed much light on this. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Anyone who has gone through COT and moved on to their first assignment: how long after COT did you move?
  5. Okay, that's what I thought. Those are also the pair I was planning on getting. Are they pretty true to size?
  6. So, on the COT website it recommends buying boots and low quarters before COT in order to break them in. I didn't see any information regarding which brand or style of boot to get aside from them being Sage Green. Is it safe to assume then that any Sage Green boots that meet AF requirements are acceptable? Who all is planning to get boots, low quarters, uniforms ahead of time?
  7. I received an email today from my recruiter that as of today the only specialty elligible for a bonus is OR nurses due to budget issues. Therefore, there is now only the option for loan repayment.
  8. Well that clarifies things. I have a question regarding the loan repayment. If signing on for the 6 years for the cash bonus plus loan repayment, is that only one year of loan repayment (max of $40k)? I'm assuming it is because for one year you incur a two year obligation in addition to whatever you incur for the cash bonus. Just trying to figure out if it is worth giving up GI Bill for some loan repayment that won't even knock everything out.
  9. My recruiter told me today that the reason they don't mention the ISP is because that is something that is covered by someone at our first base... not sure what to think about that response.
  10. So, I have heard about pay to be certified but I couldn't find anything spelled out the way you have it. This was all I could find. It just references the RN bonus. It is possible that we could qualify for the Non-physicians certification pay but I have no clue. Special and Incentive Pay Index
  11. I posted in the other thread as well but found out this morning I'll be joining you all in May and then on to Fort Belvoir. Wasn't even on my list, but hey, it will be good! I've got buddies in the DC area.
  12. I'll be joining you all at COT in May and then will be heading on to Fort Belvoir for critical care! Kind of surprised I'm not going to Texas, actually.
  13. Did you receive a physical letter in the mail or did your recruiter give you a call? Exciting stuff!! Congrats!
  14. Brughm, I will have one year of critical care experience this November, with six months experience in the OR. Currently TNCC qualified and may get CCRN soon. I have a BSN, my recruiter said GPA is one they weigh heavy on but who knows.
  15. I just found out unofficially that I was selected! I was told they have to get the legal work and assignments made before the release the official results. I know of a COT date 11 January and 28 March but I don't know yet which I'll be at.
  16. Does anyone know if there is somewhere you can check online for the list of selectees? Everything is shut down for Columbus day and I was hoping I could find out somehow short of waiting until Tuesday. I know, I've waited this long, but still.
  17. Of course my recruiter is out on leave. The suspense is killing me. Congratulations to all those who have gotten selected so far!
  18. Congratulations Morgan! I wish I hadn't seen this at the beginning of a night shift though! Going to be hard not to think about this all night. LOL Looks like I'll be making a phone call on my drive home.
  19. I heard from mine on Friday that they were still meeting and the projected date was Oct 19. Convenient since that is the last day to notify.
  20. I was told there were 19 slots, though I have no idea how many have applied. I was told only 3 from my region including myself but that doesn't mean a whole lot. When I had my specialty interview the colonel I spoke with said they were incredibly short on critical care nurses and she hoped they select a lot. I don't know if that means they will have even more slots or if 19 is considered a lot.
  21. Yes, I was told that they have to notify by Oct 19. Whether that means no later than versus that being the exact date they notify I am not sure. My recruiter had initially told me the usually get notifications done before then.
  22. I've been following along for a bit, first time posting though. Submitted my packet for the September boards for FQ Critical Care. MEPS done, specialty and chief nurse interviews under the belt... just waiting. I hope they don't wait to notify last minute on Oct 19 but who knows. I've been working on my application for about a year and a half. Feels good to have it out of my hands.
