Hi! Tina K , no unfortunately I cannot go there just like that, I live in New York City. I considered Beth Israel Nursing School in New York and Three Rivers Community College in Stamford, Connecticut. I can only start there in January which will be probably too late for me because I will be seven months pregnant by then:) I guess I have to wait:) Thanks anyway:) MattyUK: I didn't have enough hours in psychiatric nursing , theory and clinical in my nursing course in Austria, therefore I have to do this one subject course in psychiatric nursing again, including the clinical. I know that the second year is the hardest in nursing school becuase you are right in the middle in the program but hang in there, I am sure you will make a great nurse and if you want to go to America as a nurse you can do it, you just need a little patience:) Good luck to you! Hi TinaK! I called LangaraCollege and got all the information, I know it is not entirely long distance and I explained the lady from the Board of Nursing exactly that I would go there for the clinical. She still told me that for the theoretical component they don't permit it because I would study at home and they require you to be there at the university for the theoretical course too. She told me that they don't allow that students from California even so I don't know... Anyway I cannot do anything expect wait again like always I guess. I will continue my search on universities in New York. Tina

Hello! I did my nursing course in Europe and the Board of Nursing now requires me here to do the Psychiatric nursing course and clinical to be able to do my NCLEX exam here. Does anyone know an university in the New York City are or close by that offers this one single course in the RN Bachelor's , Associate's or Master's program? Thank you Tina :)

Hi TinaK, I just called the Board of Registered Nursing in California and talked to the responsible person for my case and she told me that they do not accept long distance courses like that at Langara College. I am soo dissappointed. I just don't know what to do, I cannot find any place in New York and the only one that I found is Beth Israel Nursing School in New YOrk and they can only take me eventually for January and that is still 4 months! Then I will be seven months pregnant. I am sorry I am just so down, sometimes I really feel like giving up. I mean these people just give you just such a hard time.. Please please doesn't anyone now a place in New York for Psychiatric Nursing that offer this one single course? Thank you Tina

I am a RN nurse from Austria , did my course there and try to get my license now for California. They told me that I need to do the clinical and theory in Psychiatric Nursing although I had the course but the problem was it was a kind of Sub-subject in specific pathology but I had the theory. The school only has the name "Specific Pathology" written in my transcript with the number of hourse not mentioning the name Psychiatric nursing. Anyway I know that it is justified for the clinical because I really didn't do that one in this specific subject. Now it is a kind of a struggle to find a school in New York (where I live now) which offers this single course and I only found a couple of distance programs in Canada up to now which would require me to travel there. Does anyone have any advise on this? Thank you:) Tina

Hi TinaK! I guess my husband maybe just called at the wrong place because we used the general number for the Langara College. I called there with the number you posted with the Homepage there and they told me they would do the course only that they were not sure whether the US would approve the course cause it is in Canada. Do you know anything about it? I have to call the Board of Nursing in California (where I applied) anyway to find out but just ask..Thanks again for your big help:) Tina

Oh my, well actually my husband called and he asked for the Mental Health course or Psychiatric nurse for the nursing program (he is a LPN nurse himself and I hate talking on the phone:)) and they told him it was not running at the moment.
