U.S. educated RN coming to Ontario, Canada
bobacia, please refer to several posts above where I briefly outlined my process. I was not given an option of OSCE. I was offered to go to school. I wrote an appeal within a specified timeframe and in a couple of month I received registration papers.

hi, sorry I have not been updating. From NNAS I received a "somewhat compatible" assessment. Later I submitted to CNO but was denied registration stating on my lack of education and listing competencies I was missing. I decided to appeal that and apply to York at the same time as a back up. About 3 month later CNO reversed their decision and now I am lisenced! I am still staying in the US for a little while though.

Osce results
Hi Vishim, I am in a very similar situation but I have not taken the OSCE. There are only a few schools you can go to to fill in your gaps. I have looked into Mohawk, Centennial, George Brown and York. Most of the colleges have 1-2 year programs and then you have to continue to a University to complete BScN. York is the only University in Toronto area that offers program for IENs to get them straight to Bachelor's degree. With the new competency gaps coverage program, as dishes mentioned, only covers so much and you might not qualify for it based on the list of gaps. Also, it is not coming till next May.

US IEN applying to CNO
Yes, Care was the most responsive of all. I am going to meet with them in-person next week. CNO was not able to answer my questions and I had to leave a message for my reviewer.

I already emailed York, Mohawk and Fanshawe. Algonquin is a bit far for me. This week seems to be the worst for this since a lot of people are on vacation. =(

US IEN applying to CNO
I just sat down and started calling every college on the list of CNO. So far the success is minimal. I also recounted competencies that I am missing one by one from the CNO letter. My count came down to 66... Is that better??

US IEN applying to CNO
No, there is not a 100 competencies different. 340/440 would make my percent match to 75. In fact, the competencies that I have missing are the exact 100 competencies that are listed in the Entry to Practice Competencies PDF on the college website. The whole document has 100 and it is hard for me to believe that I am missing all of them.

I have 440 items total that were reviewed. The math appeared to be correct. For Example: Requirement 1: Responsibility and Accountability: 56% match 1.1: Roles and responsibilities: 6/14 at 43% 1.2: Scope and Competency: 5/10 at 50% 1.3: Professional Behaviors: 5/7 at 71% 1.4: Research/Evidence-Based Practice: 6/10 at 60% And the whole report goes on and on. Does this makes sense to you?

Yea, there was a breakdown of competencies in NNAS report: Responsibility and accountability: 56% Knowledge-Based practice: 69.7% Ethical practice: 60.5% Service to public: 47% Self-Regulation: 41.5% Is the total number of competencies a 100?? I the document Entry to practice Competencies from CNO it lists 100.

US IEN applying to CNO
I will send an email to CNO today. dishes, thank you so much for your answers! I was so frustrated after getting this letter. I am strongly inclined to appeal. I want CNO to see all of my syllabi and matching texts of competencies.

US IEN applying to CNO
I am visiting next week. Yes, I am a Canadian PR. I was also just looking again at my letters from CNO and noticed that on the very 1st letter they name my colleges by their full corresponding name. On the 2nd letter, however, they name them differently. Should this concern me?

US IEN applying to CNO
Dishes, Both phone calls are on my calendar for Monday at 9 00. =) I am also confused by why I have so many competencies to fill in. My NNAS report was compatible at 54.9%. I am wondering if CNO was missing syllabi. I searched my Med-Surg II syllabus and searched one of the words from competencies 1, 2, 3 and pretty much they matched in the section from clinical rotation evaluation and performance exam evaluation. I am inclined to submit an appeal just to make sure CNO has all the pertinent information that they are entitled to from my schools. I read the other thread but I think its not my case. I was satisfied with Somewhat Compatible report since many other forums I was reading people were getting Not Compatible.
