  1. Thanks for your input! It is much appreciated.
  2. Thanks for the reply! I guess when I am ready, I will see if I can speak to all of the hospitals around here. I am thinking the Los Robles or CMH would both be fine. They both seem to sponsor education for employees, which is important to me. It may come down to whom has the most appealing open positions. Thanks, again!
  3. Doesn't anyone have any input??? I am looking at Los Robles in Thousand Oaks, Community Medical Center in Ventura, St. John's in Oxnard and Camarillo, and Ventura County Medical in Ventura. Please....any comments would be greatly appreciated!
  4. I am in the process of reactivating my IL nursing license. After it is activated, I will be getting the CA RN license. I have a BSN and a few years of work experience around 10 years ago. I expect to be starting out near a new grad rate. My question for all of you out there....which hospital is the best hospital to work at for RNs? We live in Camarillo, CA. I could work in Ventura, Oxnard, or Thousand Oaks. Oxnard may be a little closer, but it wouldn't make that much difference. Any input any has would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  5. We recently moved to Camarillo, CA from a fairly affluent suburb of Chicago. I thought Chicago prices were high.....we had 1/3 acre there with a good sized, but old house. We put it on the market for 350000. Here you cannot touch a home for under 600000....and there is no yard and no guarantee that the schools that your children will attend are any good. Our old home was in a great school district. However, the weather is beautiful. I suppose that is the tradeoff. My husband's job relocated us here....probably for around 3 years. At that point, we may be sent to Dallas, specifically Plano area. Weather there is not as nice, but I think I will be ok with giving it up. I cannot stand the thought of throwing rent money out the window. Once I get a nursing job here.....am in processing of activating an inactive IL license and then endorsing in CA, we could probably afford it, but I don't see spending that much on a tiny house. We were back in IL around Christmas and I do have to say, coming home to the southern CA weather is welcome. Today is supposed to be 82 and sunny, though that is unseasonably warm. Good luck with your decisions! Financially, CA is tough. However, the activities available and the mild weather are great.
  6. I am returning to nursing too after having been out for around a decade. I am taking a self study refresher course that is accepted by Illinois, the state in which I was originally licensed. It is through South Dakota State University. North Dakota also has one, as well as University of Delaware. You would need to find out if they are accepted in you situation.
