Theoretically, you won't get accepted till the 2018 fall intake. And realistically, more like 2019 Winter intake by my estimation. For some odd reason, Douglas College had double the amount of Patho and Micro classes in Fall 2015 (ie from the normal 3 patho to 6 patho (3 in David Lam and 3 in New West)). If I had to bet money on it, I would say winter 2019 for Douglas to take you.

Douglas College Fall 2017 Nursing applicants
It is going to take a little while. My application status has only changed late Monday's evening to "Conditional Accept non hs appl". It hadn't changed during mid-day. They are most likely still going through applicants. Good luck and don't give up!

Langara vs. Douglas College 2016 or 2017
Not sure about psych nursing. But for regular nursing, Douglas College looks at GPA. The official policy is "first qualified, first accepted". The "first qualified" portion screens out those who have completed all the prerequisites at some cut off dates (i.e., Fall 2015 for the fall 2017 intake). They will then determine who gets in by GPA among this group of applicants to be "first accepted". So High GPA counts!! I am a living proof.

I just wanted to add to that. The deadline to pay the $350 deposit for those offered a seat is Nov 9th. Not everyone is going to accept the offer, so I think the admission will send out more offers later. That would fit your description of people receiving offers a month and a half later. Don't give up. There is still hope for those who didn't get the acceptance e-mail.

NP or MD
OP, if time is of the essence, going for MD will ultimately save you time. If you have the grade, volunteering, research, leadership position experience, MD is a superior choice and gives you more options. Get accepted to Med school asap. NP is inferior relative to MD and takes more time than MD. Don't waste your time and go all the way.

Douglas College Fall 2017 Nursing applicants
Hey Nikola00, I couldn't believe you started at Douglas the same time I was. This is surely a long journey. I have misread your winter 2016 to fall 2016. Haha, Douglas should use Spring and fall instead like other places of learning. So you have finished yours back in winter 2016, you should get in the next intake for winter 2018, provided that your grades are decent. I like Douglas for the exact same reason: location. Langara and BCIT are both great but I hate the long drive if I get in. Moving out is too expansive merely for nursing school. You know, UBC nursing used to do mini interviews just like their med school counterpart with fewer stations. They have changed that to CASPer. At least if you apply to UBC, you wouldn't have to face that kind of pressure.

UBC is competitive but only considers your most recently completed 30 credits. Technically, you can improve your chances by taking a year courses towards a degree. UBC has just changed their review process from 2 parts to 3 parts, GPA (most recent 30 credits), supplemental applications for extra curricular activities/volunteering, and Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics – CASPer. Just book an info session and find out. Admissions | School of Nursing I started out a little late in Sept 2013 at Douglas. Once I got in, Nursing Foundation was closed for 2 years. I couldn't take my patho and micro till Sept 2015. If my Oct 2016 application is accepted for the Sept 2017 intake, I would already have spent 4 years for the first year of nursing. By the time I finish my nursing, I will be 7 years total. That's longer time then 4 years of med school plus 2 years of family physician residency.

UBC is competitive but only looks at your most 10 recent courses (so you could technically improve your grades for one year and have a 4.0). They have just changed their review process to 3 parts, GPA, physician-designed personally test, and extra curricular activities. They are not sure what the weighting for these 3 yet. They are still doing info sessions and you can book one really quick . Admissions | School of Nursing You think that's bad. I started at Douglas a little late back in Sept 2013 and they had just closed the foundation program for 2 years. I only got in to the foundation Sept 2015. Assuming Douglas takes me for the Sept 2017 intake for my Sept 2016 application, I would already have spent 4 years doing for the first year of nursing. This is depressing .

Douglas College Fall 2017 Nursing applicants
Last intake favored those students who had their pre-requisites finished by summer 2015. This intake naturally favors those who had their pre-reqs by fall 2015. This is the part that means "first qualified, first accepted" policy. You have those winter 2016 and summer 2016 people before you. So you maybe looking at 3 intakes later. You should start looking somewhere else if you don't want to wait. It is better to know it now. I would have been much happier had I known this a year ago. UBC is still taking applications till Dec 1. You might want to try that if you don't want to wait.

We are going to be classmates, might as well start supporting each other now, Threemarys and Leslie_dhy . My guess is that we will get an acceptance letter by the end of October. As for my application, mine is just like Threemarys' and says "Initial Adm.Req.Complete". Are you getting the "incomplete items outstanding", Leslie_dhy? You might need to give a call to Rosemarie and complete your application with your outstanding personally .

Douglas College Fall 2017 Nursing applicants
Calm down ladies. I am pretty sure that if you get your application entered by Rosemary, you are in. I also have received an e-mail from her that I was on some non-existent waitlist and could have my application entered for the fall 2017 term free. Douglas College has nicely reached out to us. I say we are getting in 99.99%. Relax and breath, Threemarys and Leslie_dhy.

Douglas College Fall 2017 Nursing applicants
The following is the picture I have put together from my experience. Take it with a grain of salt. By my estimation, the fall 2017 intake will mostly favor those who have finished all of their nursing prerequisites at the end of Fall 2015. So if you want to wait for a seat at Douglas College, your expected wait time is at least 2 more intakes, assuming you have good grades. The game for getting into Douglas College Nursing is first to separate those who have their courses finished. Among these candidates, those with the highest GPA will be selected. Funny thing. You can estimate roughly your chances of getting in by looking at the number of pathophysiology seats offered at a certain term, i.e., summer 2016. These are all of the potential applicants for fall 2018. (yup, that means you should have a realistic shot to submit your application in October 2017.) Your GPA needs to be among roughly the top 60 students then you will have a shot. This is not counting, cumulatively, all the rejected candidates before the winter 2016 term, who all have priority over you. Douglas College has offered like 210 seats for patho in Fall 2015. This may potentially push you back even one more term. You need to start looking at other places, unless you want to wait conservatively at least 2 years to get in Douglas College Nursing.
