Gi bleed? HELP!
Hey guys! So for med surg teat outs, we have to perform a scenario on the sim man. It's going to be an upper gi bleed, however, we have NO CLUE what to do for this, it's no where in the book and quite frankly the school isnt helping us be successful, they're throwing us in the room and saying good luck. So, can someone help me with what in the heck I do if someone present with a gi bleed?

Why are some nurses so petty?
I need some advice. I'm a new LPN in my first job, I've been here 7 months. I've been the only permanent nurse on my unit for 6 of those months, so people come to me and expect a lot from me. I'd like to think I'm a good nurse. Today my 2 unit managers (one coming in as manager the other leaving the facility) came to me about an issue from yesterday. Apparently they misunderstood what I said and both kinda attacked me on it. Now I feel like I'm being shunned, neither is speaking to me and keeps talking over me. My DON is the same way, I just dunno what to do, if going to a new facility will solve the issue. Help

Jobs and the waiting game?
Thank you! I'm trying to be patient, but as you know it's soooooo hard! My only contact is with the ADON and I know she's insanely busy, especially after the holidays, which I'm sure is what's adding to the wait time for me. Keeping my fingers crossed it comes this week!

Jobs and the waiting game?
How long do you wait for a job to contact you, or do you contact them? I was told I had a job (guarenteed) just had to wait for the recruiter from HR to get in touch with me so I could formally accept. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard from HR yet. Should I be calling them? I don't wanna be a bother, so I've only emailed once and text my ADON once, both of which never had an answer back. I've been outta school now for months so this waiting thing is killing me.

Job offer, what do I do?!
Hey guys! So I'm a new LPN, long story short on of my clinical sites has offered me a job, which is exactly where I wanted to be. Now, I've been communicating with the ADON for over a month now, I had to wait for HR to post the specific job they want to hire me for ans apply online. Did that. ADON said within a few days the recruiter would be emailing me the offer, I've been checking online daily and refreshing my email to see if it's come in yet, a week and a half later and nothing still. The offer is thru a long term csre facility that is connected to the hospital next door so all hiring has to go thru HR at the hospital. Basically I'm going insane here, should I contact the ADON who is my only real contact person? I hate to be a pest, but seriously it's been over a month since we started this dance. I need to work!

Stethoscope help
I get all of my stuff from allheart.com they're my favorite website, most of their BP cuffs come with a matching stethoscope too and they're pretty decent! Plus I could get a hot pink set....decision made right there lol

Beginning LPN program...Eep nervous!?
Thanks! Yeah that's the thing, the option for schools out here are total crap, this was the affordable one in comparission. It was either this or 35k at Concorde...ummm no. No community colleges, nothing like that unless I drive 2 hours one way and that's not happening. It is pricy but they at least do the financial aid like a community college does. I'm out of options, and time to wait! It's worth it in the end I think to follow my calling.

Beginning LPN program...Eep nervous!?
I should also have mentioned the program itself is not 25k, that was including my living expenses for a year, in addition to the program and NCLEX-PN test and licensure. The program itself I believe is 10-15k. Would be doing my RN thru Excelsior most likely, or going back to this school to complete their LPN-RN bridge program, depending how long we're stationed in this area.

Beginning LPN program...Eep nervous!?
It is a for profit school, there are no local community colleges in my area, I'd be driving over about 2 hours, and they have 2 year minimum wait lists after you finish 2 years of pre reqs. I would go straight for my RN, however I'm a single parent and taking 2 years to complete my RN is out of the question. I plan to complete a bridge program in the future. This school is one of the top rated schools in my area, and if you want your LPN, this is the place to go. I appreciate the feedback, however. I've been trying to get into an LPN program for quite some time now so I've done tons of pre reqs, plus being a CNA for 5 years. The financial aid office did not say I needed loans, they offer Title IV financial aid just like any other community college. I did my research with a community college 2 hours north of me which is the closest CC in my area, they offer the same aid, and the program is only a couple thousand less-and their pass rate/retention rate is the worst in the state. Again thank you for the feedback, but I have done my research for about a year before moving to this area, and this is the only clear choice for schools.

Beginning LPN program...Eep nervous!?
Hey guys! I'm so excited to be starting my LPN schooling FINALLY after years. I've got my appt with financial aid next week, it's an expensive program but I"m hoping financial aid can cover most of it, I'm a single mom. I know how hard this is going be, I've been a CNA for 5 years so I'm beyond ready for it now... For those going thru/been thru and LPN program, where do you find grants? I'm so nervous I'm going to have 25k loan when I'm finished! I know it's an investment in my future but dang...it's making me nervous! Hoping to keep my job as a CNA and work two 12 hour overnight shifts a week just so I can make some money..any advice or anyhting you guys can pass along would be awesome!! Thanks!
