  1. As a chef, the big ones are "There's nothing on the books" results in an extra hundred walk ins. "We'll have enough to last through service" means you're running out by 6pm. "At least we have X many people coming in tomorrow" half the staff is calling out sick. "I'm going to make myself something to eat" No matter if the restaurant is empty when you start, the moment your food hits the pan, **** hits the fan. "You're cut early" the moment they clock out you find yourself understaffed. "Can I get a food runner?" Everyone is on break and now that steak will be sitting for ten minutes before anyone comes by. "I've never cut myself at work" Well.. lets just say you guys see these cooks not too long after saying that.
  2. First and foremost, this is my first time really going to college. My first time through I went to a trade school and all the coursework was laid out for me (foundations I, II, III, etc etc etc -> externship) And I am beyond confused as what I need to do first, where to go, how to go about it. At 23 years old I'm completely in the dark about the education system. From the research I've done online I'll bullet point what I've deduced, please correct me if I'm wrong! Finish all gen ed classes first Some classes can be taken online, but i'll need to find a campus Its best to push all the way to BSN I should look for work as a CNA My current goal is to become an ER nurse, and I would like to get started in the field asap, but with no prior experience, I know it's a long shot. A few questions I'd like to ask are: If I'm just taking GenEd classes, is it okay to find the cheapest route online to knock them out? After GenEd, where do I go? How long before I'll be able to start working? Thank you all in advance for any advice and input passed my way!
