2017 UPENN MSN Applicants
Thank you for getting back to me! Do you mind me asking what your work experience includes? I've been on a cardiothoracic surgical step down floor at a level 1 trauma center for the past two years. I plan on moving to the ICU soon as I believe it would be of great value to have that experience. Do you think that is necessary for the AG-ACNP program? Thanks!

2017 UPENN MSN Applicants
Hi CoffeeQ1PRN, I'm interested in applying for UPenn's full time program. I noticed on the additional information section of the application, there are sections to fill out if you completed Bio and chem. My nursing program did not require I complete those courses. I noticed on the admission requirements that only stats is required. Did you complete the other courses on there as well? My BSN GPA was 3.8, I understand the GRE is then waived. Did you waive it as well? Thanks! I'd love to ask you more questions!

Applying for AGNP / AG-ACNP programs
Hello all! I am interested in applying to AGNP / AG-ACNP programs, but would like some opinions about moving forward. I have 2 years of experience on a cardiothoracic surgical step down unit at a level 1 trauma center and would eventually like to become an NP to stay on a similar step down unit, either cardiac surgicial or cardiology. I plan on applying in 2018 or 2019, so I'll hopefully have 4-5 years of experience prior to starting school. Do you think it is necessary to gain ICU experience to pursue AGNP / AG-ACNP to work on a step down unit? I believe it could only help but am aware it would add on more time from me obtaining my AGNP / AG-ACNP. As for programs itself, I noticed some require the GRE, some don't, and some are waived if your BSN GPA qualifies. I obtained a 3.80 GPA for my BSN. Would it harm my chances to not take the GRE if my GPA waives it? I've seen a few accelerated NP programs such as UPenn and University of Miami, can anyone attest to those? Any help to these questions would be appreciated. Thanks! And yes, I did post this on two forums in hopes of receiving more replies and opinions. Apologies in advance!

Cardiothoracic Surgery Stepdown Interview
Hi hopeless romantic, Thank you for your response! I appreciate the advice and will keep it all in mind. I should have mentioned that the interview will first consist of a shadow of the unit with an assigned nurse then an interview with the unit manager immediately afterwards. I was informed that I will be dressed in scrubs for both the shadow and the interview. The idea of a panel interview gives me the chills! In regards to your last piece of information, I will be sure to bring copies of my certifications and resume! Do you think my submitted cover letter will be necessary as well? Thank you!

I recently graduated with a BSN and passed my boards, and this will be my first in-person interview! I'm very nervous but would appreciate any tips/advice prior to my interview. Thank you so much! I may have posted this in the wrong forum! I found the "Nursing Career Advice" forum.
