  1. When did you go? I have some friends that went but none of them went to Lewis. They were either at the Bliss course (before it closed) and Fort Sam. My friends that went to Bliss and Sam said they were put up in furnished apartments.
  2. Airborne adds an extra thrill factor to it. As a reservist it can be difficult to get an airborne slot though. Being an FST is a thrill all in itself. So don't feel bad if it isn't ABN.
  3. Hey OU, I can't send messages yet because I haven't posted enough, so I will respond to your PM this way. :) It's not a bad gig. I'm in an FST right now. They don't really have a spot for me as I'm a med-surg nurse (66H) and I'm in a periop slot (66E). Which is part of the reason I am going to the periop course this summer. Depending on what your specialty is you would probably need to get into a CSH or an FST. I like it a lot, I have a great unit though and leadership is pretty good. Those two things can make or break you. Nice thing about reserves is that it's easier to transfer among units so long as they have a slot open for you.
  4. I have been to the area before. I went to LDAC there, was almost ten years ago when I was there. I remember it being very pretty and all of my friends that have been stationed there loved it. I'm excited for the course and to explore when we have our days off. Hoping whatever billeting arrangements there are will allow me to have my kids up there for a few weeks.
  5. Posted this in general before I saw there was a "government/military section" Hey everyone! I'm an Army Nurse in the reserves (just transferred from active duty to reserves last year), and I just got approved for the Army's 66-E Perioperative course at Fort Lewis! I'm crazy excited. I was planning on taking a periop course through Bellarmine university in Louisville this spring, but very happy to do this instead. Anyone been to the course at Fort Lewis? Just had some general questions for fellow Army Nurses as far as what to expect, billeting, the area, etc. It starts in June. Thank everyone!

  7. Hey everyone, I'm newer to this forum and typically I just like to read up on stuff and have never posted. I finally have a question that I haven't found a solid answer to. I just got accepted to the RODP program through APSU and start January 2016. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as what classes to take together and when? I was going to go off of RODP's example on the website, but Advanced Patho AND Advanced research together? Seems like a lot, especially in my case it will be taken in the summer which is shorter. I will be working, my goal is to work 24-30 hours a week, going up to 40 only if I have to. Thanks for any advice you can give!.
