Nursing "students" have no rights, no protection ... but...
Any nurse accused or accused and convicted of a crime has so many lawyers and agencies protecting them. Their crimes disappear... A lot. Or are kept very quiet. A nursing student has no rights no protection no one gives a ****. Excuse my language but for 4 years I've tried to find even more one single person, group, lawyer etc anyone pretty much that stood up FOR nursing students busting their own ass to learn how to save strangers. You all know it sure as hell ain't easy. So why in the hell can a nursing student be subjected to NEVER receiving a nursing license, when if she had got that DUI after she was licensed .... Here come TONS of people to defend her. What about murder? No ADMN no need to email me I'm very well aware that's a serious accusation. Its fact. Google ***** ***** Lawrence county Tennessee. Plea of guilty she killed 2 people. A husband and wife. And pushed them into another car head on severely injuimh two college students. But no worries she received judicial diversion... 4 years probation and its completely wiped off her record. And don't y'all worry she's happily practicing at her one stop rapid blah blah clinic in Lawrenceburg Tennessee. And no no one contacted the nursing board. MY POINT IS DONT GET ON THIS THREAD WITH YOUR DUI IS WRONG SOAPBOX becaus that's not the point at all.

Being Sued / Losing License
Another thing is in the nursing application it clearly states that a DUI does fall into the category of a minor traffic violation when it asks you if you have ever been convicted
-
Being Sued / Losing License
But I do agree you're point of view should be what the BON uses.
-
Being Sued / Losing License
Um I respectfully and completely disagree with you. A DUI will have your license pulled faster. Than you can blink and more than like no crime was ever commited especially not murder so you are wrong. The DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SAFETY works with BON to discipline if notified.

Being Sued / Losing License
in these cases no one was punished at all even when the family took the stand and pleaded with the judge to give her some punishment. i still can't believe it.
-
Being Sued / Losing License
I just feel its so unfair to the family who lost their momma and daddy that she didnt lose anything and probation is barely discipline. When shes free to do as she pleases. I just don't understand it. I hate this small town politic game its pathetic its all about who you know... Shes not the only nurse in our town who has killed someone and faced no consequence some havent even faced probation.

I apologize I messed up and used the wrong term. I'm sorry. I was just living when I read the article. I'm sorry!

Being Sued / Losing License
I apologize I made a mistake she is not a PA (Physicians Assistant) She is a NP ( Nurse Practitioner) and they dont care you are right but they should... Shes very much licensed in good standing with no discipline. Sentencing Hearing Held In Distracted Driving Case

Being Sued / Losing License
Well FIRST. I just saw it. Second. You are wrong. TN is a "Self report" state. if you don't report it on your license renewal there is a very good chance they will never know. Excuse me if I'm not okay with a murderer owning her own practice after the victims family pleading for her not being grandted probation.
-
Being Sued / Losing License
That's nothing there is a PA in my town who was found guilty of two counts of vehicular manslaughter bc she was face booking and driving and killed two people she hit then hit another car head on and injured two more. She got "judicial diversion" and received 4 years probation and n discipline on her license and when prob is up her record will be clean and pretty sure the TBON WILL NEVER EVEN KNOW IT HAPPENED

No no my lawyer only saved my credits from being taking by the statue after I got sick he's not taken anything from me he hasn't been paid in years and won't be paid again he just made sure I got to keep what I earned that was all it's not like what you're thinking I'm sorry I wasn't as clear as I should have been. He was great! But he was only there for one purpose and he did that purpose.

I'm sorry, sorry, sorry! I was only kidding! Meaning you made me feel like a bad guy or a criminal. lol When I only have a lawyer that retained my ADN credits with the president of 2 year colleges in Alabama. I wanted to safe guard them that I worked so hard for. Then heartbreakingly today I find out that doesnt even matter. Sometimes I wonder if the heart ache this path brings is worth it.

I received my my LPN in July. I would have graduated ADN May 2013. Don't jump to conclusions because its not like that, believe it or not sometimes people are just downright done dirty. As was I. I have a lawyer that froze my ADN credits while so that the state of limitations would not discredit them. I'm not a nazi. Even though you sorta just made me feel like one. lol

My lpn instructor was willing to testify for me and my lawyer to on my behalf and she wouldn't even consider it.

I spoke with an admissions counselor today she was suppose to be the highest up to give me the most accurate answer.

I know I thought I understood what you meant but they also told me they'd take my adn credit on too of my LPN license today is the sixth representative I spoke today and the only one who didn't tell me that lie that they would all transfer. I felt awful for crying cause I she was tearing up and apologizing I assured her it was not her fault she was the only one who was honest with me. In so sick of people trying to make a buck off of people with good intentions...they can't argue it's because of clinical experience because I completed and lpn program and have my diploma and I was almost done with my Adn and they tell me I'm not qualified clinically when I actually have over double what any of the applicants have

Well I hate to be the one to inform you but I just got off the phone with them this afternoon and I was very upset. It turns out every single admissions person I had talked to until now had lied to me. None of the nursing credits will transfer, no matter how relevant they are. She said because they are not an "end degree" program. None of it counts, only most of your basic will count. You have to start the ADN from scratch.

I completely understand what you are saying! The grading critique is very critical! I am sure when it gets time to perform I will be a nervous wreck, just the feeling of knowing someone is watching my every move and judging it is so intimidating! Thats something I will never overcome. But I'm glad to hear from someone that has experienced it. Where did you take yours at? How were the nurses and staff? Did they make you feel comfortable?

I told one of my best friends I guess I will just have to make a week out of it, haha. I've always begged to go to New York now I have a legitimate reason. I'm not quite sure what a Tennessee girl would do with herself there but it sounds like a once in a lifetime experience. Did you take your CPNE with Excelsior? I'm just curious. People seem to really freak out over it, but clinicals are my best. I am completely in my element and comfortable so I'm not worried.

I was referring to the LPN program being one year. Is that what you are talking about?
-

I am in the exact situation as you. How old are your ADN credits? Mine will be 3 years this spring so I'm not worried about them. They should all be accepted. I am concerned about the location of the big clinical test though. I can either go to New York or Atlanta. Neither is anywhere close to me. I expressed my concerns but hey I'm not complaining if thats what I gotta do then thats what I gotta do.

Thank you very much I appreciate your encouragement!!

I completely understand. I have the competence and drive absolutely. I completed a LPN program for the sole purpose of this program because they stopped admitting partial RN students. I have no problem catching on quickly or retaining what I learn and I do not plan to stop with just my RN either. I really appreciate the depth you've answered with, it gives me so much more faith in the program than I already had. It's $!00 now, but I have no problem with that as long as its true. I just got worried when I read about some lawsuits about other schools advertising like Excelsior and students completing them and they turned out not even having any connection with any sort of BON what so ever. Thats what worried me.

Thank you! Luckily mine are all in the 5 year marker except my very first basic classes which will become 6 years this spring but they do not feel that will become any problem.
