Hey there! I'm a current nau flagstaff nursing student. I agree, the kaplan study guide wasn't much help. For me, I found that watching youtube videos helped. There should be a breakdown of systems for the a&p part. I just looked up those and watched a TON of videos the month leading up to the exam. I didn't really study for the other parts of the test because I didn't know how. After taking the test, I still don't know the best ways to study for them. The math part is pretty basic so I wouldn't stress too much about it. I wish you the best of luck!

Hi, I'm not at the Tucson campus. I only applied for yuma and flagstaff and got into yuma and was an alternate for flagstaff. I only studied for the math and science sections. For the math, the Kaplan entrance exam study guide book had everything I needed in there. The math and reading sections were very easy to me. I'm not sure how to study for the writing part. I thought it was a bit confusing. The science section I used youtube videos. I searched for the topics the entrance exam study guide said we're part of the Kaplan test. If I had had an a and p book, I would've used that. Good luck on your test!

I'm having a hard time finding someone to do the physical. I don't have a primary care doctor so I tried two walk in clinics and they said they can't do it because nurse practitioners aren't qualified enough to fill it out. What the heck, is this true? ?

Has anyone received their letter in the actual mail yet? I thought it would be here for sure today but the mail came and it wasn't in there.

I'm not sure. Do you know how we can find out what number we are on the lists? If I'm like #10 then I'm going with yuma and not risking it with flagstaff.

I'm sorry. Did they say it was your kaplan? There was a kaplan study guide they sent out last week in our emails and I saw a lot of good things on there. I wish I had had it before I took the test. I bet studying that would really help!

I just checked my nau email! I got into yuma and am also an alternate for flagstaff. I don't see what number on the alternate list though. It says I have to make a decision by the 13th. Idk what to do! But I'm so relieved!!!

I wonder if that means they already made all their decisions...that makes me nervous lol. I'm hoping and praying we get in! That would be great to get together if we both get in! Nice to meet you beepis. I think you have a good chance with those scores! Do you have anything in progress?

I know how you feel. If my gpa was higher, I wouldn't be so nervous but I know there will be people who have much better ones. I hate not knowing, I'd rather know sooner than later! Do you have a backup plan? I really don't know what I'll do next if it's a no. I suppose retake some classes but I'd rather not have to do that.

I'm 26 and feel like I finally figured it out. I did a year of dental hygiene at nau in 2010 and stopped there. I now am married with 2 kids, one who has Cystic Fibrosis. She's the reason I wanted to go back to school and go for nursing. This seems like such a long wait to find out :\

I applied for flagstaff as my first choice and yuma as my second. I didn't receive any confirmation that they got my application. Did you ask or should they have told me? Now I'm nervous over that lol. I'm really hoping to be at least an alternate for flagstaff. I'd be happy to go to yuma too but I love flagstaff and would rather go there! I'm in bullhead city az right now and I miss the cooler weather that flagstaff has. May I ask what your gpa and kaplan scores are? I'm happy that there hasn't been a lot of people on this thread. Hopefully it's because there's not many applicants out there

Oh okay. I was hoping it would be before November, but that's okay. Time just seems to be going by slow. Which campus did you apply for?

I'm nervous too! It's hard to wait this long! Why do you think the letters will go out in November? Did you hear something? I was hoping it'd only take the 4 weeks lol. Do you know if rejection letters go out the same time? Do you know other people who are applying?

It's a different test than the HESI. I haven't taken the Hesi, so I'm not sure how they're different. NAU uses the Kaplan.

I think it was 95 reading, 89 math, 76 writing, 70 science. I have Bs in my liberal studies classes and math, and statistics . That really brought it down. Yeah I have PSY 240 in progress, everything else is done. I've been really bummed about my gpa.

I used the Kaplan study guide for the math and it was really helpful. I'm not a math person at all but it only missed 3 on the test. I didn't stidy for reading or writing. I'm so old I figured I wasn't going to learn anything new lol. The science part I spent the majority of the time studying for. I used youtube videos and watched about the various body systems. I would've used an a and p book bUT I don't have mine anymore. I feel like that would be very helpful to use!

Thank you! I feel like my numbers are low. I have a 3.5 gpa, and I got a 84% overall but a 70% on the science part of Kaplan I hope there's not too much competition this round! Good luck to you! I'm getting ready to send mine out next week!
