  1. :uhoh21: Has anyone gone to or knows someone who went to these LPN schools? 1. Harrison Center for Career Education 2. Medical Learning Center 3. VMT Education Program Any feedback would be appreciated. I just came across these online. Only one had a website. I plan on calling them. Just wanted first-hand knowledge on someone who really went there. Thanks!
  2. VMT - I heard from a teacher at NVCC was a good school. This teacher (does not teach nursing) is lacking though in the teaching department and a lot of students complain about her. She recommended that school though.
  3. Go to an agency. I had a friend in a class last semester who was an LPN for 10 years and she said she worked for a really great agency doing private duty work. She said she loved her job and it was not really stressful and helped her study as she was an RN student and older mom. She did private duty. Go to an agency. Not all are the same but they can expose you to different areas. You make more money too. But you don't get benefits. Are you an LPN?
  4. How could that be? Isn't there a set pay scale for new grads? Did those two people have experience? I hope it was not some kind of discrimination : /
  5. Hello! My sister went to Forest Park community college's nursing program when there was not a waiting list. She graduated like a year ago. She liked it a lot. As far as professors, all of you who are in school and wondering about what professors to take for what course - check out ratemyprofessors.com It is an awesome site and really helps u choose ur teachers if u have a choice that is :chuckle
  6. Really? I can't believe what I am hearing. I live in Virginia currently but plan to move back to Missouri after I earn my LPN or RN (that is another story). I would think there would be jobs right? In general, I heard as an LPN - jobs are being depleted from the hospitals. I don't know why. I guess because they are limited in their scope of services relatively speaking as compared with RNS. That is a scarey thought though to think that as an LPN I would have a hard type finding a job in Missouri. That sucks Have you tried an agency? What about private home duty jobs?
  7. My aunt who had no experience transferred to a university straight after she received her ADN from the local community college and graduated with a BSN in California. Right off she became a head nurse working 50 hours a week between two hospitals. I do not know the details of her type of employment (could be agency or PRN) but I know that she reported to my mother (her sister) and visiting family from out of state that she was making $120,000 a year. I know she is deteremined and is energy driven so I can picture her as a head nurse being in charge and that is why I could never work for her. It would be actually kinda scarey working for her LOL. But yeah, so you can make that much in California because she is living proof of that. She works hard but living in California with the high cost of living, she makes a really good salary. Her husband has been working in a medical lab for many years so I would not be suprised is his job provides the health insurance for her family of 4 and she could be just as well working for a high paying agency not needing the health benefits that would come with a lower paying but regular "staff" member employment at her hospital.
