  1. Thank you all for your replies!!! I am very excited and nervous for the interviews tomorrow. I interview on j83 and j53!!! is that a floor that you worked on Flashgirl??? I love cardiac, ever since i worked as an EMT i was facinated. But I also love working with children.
  2. Hi, I graduate in 2 weeks. I have 2 interviews next week, one is med surg cardiac step down and the other is a cardio floor with LVADs and ventilators. Both arare at the cleveland clinic. I am nervous and also excited!!! The reason why I can interview for these is because I was an EMT in the past. However, I completed a 400 hour externship and did my 120 hour transitions on general pediatric floors because this is what I really want to do. However, currently in my area there are not many openings and with this economy and how hard it is to get a nursing job as a new grad, I am determined to take any job. I have lobed cardio all thru school. My question, do you think taking one of these jobs if it is offered is a wise choice for me??? I feel very inexperienced because all of my extra time has been spent in peds. I did very well with that. I understand that there will be a huge learning challenge for me to start on a cardiac step down floor as a new grad. Any advice?
  3. Hi, I applied to nursing school for next year... and am also interested in flight and emergency nursing. Could you possibly tell me some of the articles that you found that really interested you? Thanks. Are you a flight nurse or emergency nurse now?
  4. During reabilation after a hip replacement. IS it possible to push yourself to hard.
  5. thanks everyone for your advice. I just signed up for the paramedic course at youngstown state.
  6. Actually, i take the national reg. for my Basic on a week from tommorrow. The paramedic program at my school takes 3 semesters, the fall, spring and a summer semester. Then you can sit for the paramedic reg. So it won't hurt me in the long run if i get my paramedic first, cause i will finish that before i start nursing school.
  7. thanks every one for your advice. The thing is, is that I can't start nursing school until the fall of 07'. But i could obtain the P-EMT before then. Also, I thought that being a P-EMT while doing nursing school would be a fun experience because it is not your ordinary job. Then I thought that i could become an RN and then be an EMT-P on the side part time for maybe a shift a week. I've been told that the way of thinking of a P-EMT is much different than a nurse. I was just wondering if the transition from the EMT-P way of thinking to an RN's way would be a hard transition. I am just looking for experience that would make me a better ER nurse in the long run, because of the prehospital setting. Could someone that was a paramedic first make a better ER nurse because of experience than one who wasn't a paramedic?
  8. Hello Everyone, Currently I am a prenursing student but am also almost an EMT Basic. Right now i am confused about what i should do because Prehospital care interests me so much . I would love to be and am thinking about being a Paramedic. I also want to be a RN. An RN was my original goal, but critical care and Emergency care is what fuels me the most. Is it possible to function as both a Paramedic and an RN at the same time in the same job? And if so, is it wise to become a paramedic first? Will it help me as an RN in the ER? Has anyone done this? Became a Paramedic first and then an RN?
