My gf cut her finger in the kitchen last night, after one look at it, I immediately said she needed stitches. (At least I made a quick decision and was good in crisis mode!). I was fascinated and watched them stitch her up. I had no issues with what I was seeing, but all of a sudden I felt nauseated and light headed and had to sit down because I almost passed out. The NP had me lay in the bed also, gave me juice until my color returned and I felt better. Now I've been having these terrible thoughts that maybe I don't have it in me for Nursing if I almost passed out just from watching 3 stitches?! My hope and thinking is that you get more used to it when you see things time and time again?! I am a current chiropractor that is unhappy with the field and have never had to deal with bodily fluids other than in cadaver lab (no problems at all). I am really excited to start Nursing school in the Fall, but am now worried that I may not be cut out for it even if it's on a subconscious level?! Can anyone give me peace of mind please? Thank you in advance!
