  1. Good afternoon all, I am very stressed and looking for answers - any help would be appreciated! Background: I am currently a masters of public health student, 24 years old and located in New York City. Over the past year or so found that I am not so much interested in the policy side of health as I am interested in the clinical side of health and have, after much soul searching and aptitude tests found that I would love to pursue a career as a nurse and would love to work towards a doctorate of nurse practice. My undergraduate was in Anthropology and Medical Anthropology (I had been setting myself up for an MPH), therefore I do not have any nursing experience up to this point. My questions are: Is it a possible to transition from an ADN program directly to a DNP program or would I have to get a masters first? (In particular in NYC but really, anywhere in the U.S!) Additionally, I have been considering accelerated BSN programs; similarly is it possible to transition directly from that into a DNP program? Lastly, in regards to ADN versus BSN - as I was a liberal arts/policy major in undergrad, I do not have a number of the pre-requisites required for a BSN and therefore, would need to complete them prior to entry. Therefore, ADN seems my fastest option into the nursing field and then to work my way up from there but would it be a longer process to become a DNP? Sorry for the verbose posting, I'm just desperately looking for a best course of action in regards to how to get into this field and onto a path towards a DNP. Thank you all in advance!
