Congrats to everyone that got in for the spring! Just finishing up my first semester and thought I'd check to see what kind of fun was going on over here. Get ready for a ride! It'll fly right by!

Here's to hoping we find out sooner than Friday and I really hope I get in this semester! I have the SCIT classes, which were the exact same as the BIOL (as half my class was SCIT and half BIOL). I'm gonna be praying and thinking happy thoughts until we find out. I really don't want to have to retake classes I've already taken just to have them listed differently on my transcript.

I think with 32.99 you should have plenty to get into the program. Even if someone on the low end (I think I've seen 24 as the lowest interviewing) got full points and you got partial, you'd be ok. I don't know how they score the interviews and writing, but I'd bet full points isn't common. I wouldn't stress too much (easier said than done, though, huh?)

How is the first semester so far? I'm on the fb page, but I feel like it's one of those things where until you're in the throes of it, you won't quite understand.

I believe we were allotted 10 minutes for the writing sample (which was hand written). The above listed questions were ones I heard in my interview as well... Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I've had a sick husband and kids this week . I'm going in at 9:30 on Wednesday. Anyone else have that time?

Congrats to all who received interview invitations! I've got a reminder in my phone to send my response (in the unlikely event that I forget). I'm excited and less nervous this time. The interview is a panel/ group interview. It's hard not to be nervous going in for something like that, but the ones I interviewed with last semester were very warm and welcoming. Hopeful for the same this time. And I hope I get good questions!

I had 24.1 last semester. I'm sure it's quite intense in the program with just the nursing classes. And micro is a lot of info to try to do on top of it! I was going to take it online last semester, but after seeing how unorganized it was on ecampus compared to my other online classes, I dropped it. If March flies by as quickly as Jan & Feb, it'll be here in no time!

It was quite competitive for Spring '16, as someone with .04 more than me was accepted while I was an alternate. I thought maybe I bombed the interview. But when I reached out for feedback, she told me I scored well on my interview, and encouraged me to finish getting my support classes (I didn't have patho, pharm or micro). I'm currently in micro and completed pharm, so will apply with 3 more points than last semester. I'm hoping that, as well as it being a bigger class, will be sufficient. They really encouraged having all the support classes complete before starting the RN program. They said students who were trying to take the support classes during the program really struggled a lot more. I'll be turning in my application on Monday morning, so I'll ask Barb how it's looking. It doesn't seem to be as nerve-racking this time around. Hopefully that's a good thing.

I applied for Spring '16 but was selected as an alternate. Weighing my options and will apply for Fall '16 at Brookhaven as well as the other DCCCD schools. I'll probably apply to UTA for Spring '17, just to see how that goes. Brookhaven would still be optimal, as I could start working that much sooner while working on getting my BSN. Right now, it's just get through this semester & hope one of those options works out for me this time. I applied with 24.1 points last semester. I think I'll have ~27 this time.

I'm looking into alternative options. I basically have all the core classes so may as well just try for a BSN program. That would probably put me graduating around the same time as if I tried again for Fall 2016. I'll still get my stuff in order just in case, but I'm not hopeful. I asked & have 7 ahead of me.

Alternate I was hopeful but think I was on the lower end of points going into it. Good luck to everyone else.

When did you receive the book list? Was it included in the info they send out after we are accepted? Or do we have to wait until Success Camp/ classes start?

A list of everything (and links) would be great! My mom keeps asking me what I want for Christmas and I keep telling her "I'll let you know when I know if I get in or not." She already got me a stethoscope for my birthday, saying she has faith I'll get in *fingers crossed!* Luckily I'm already a prime member (which got me $10 off + free shipping on the stethoscope!). How often do you end up with something scheduled for the weekend? I'd like to go PRN at my current job, but with things changing on the fly that may be hard.

I had mine yesterday too... What time did you go? Friends and family keep asking how it went and I just say "hopefully well enough to get in!" The questions are pretty standard interview type questions "Tell us about a time when..." sort of thing. And as abred said, they all were very nice and warm. They answered our questions at the end. One thing I didn't think to ask, but wished I had, is at what hospitals do they do their clinicals, just so I'd have an idea about that. I'm a planner and like to know things in advance so I can mentally prepare.

Ok, sounds like their kids are older. Mine are little (3 and 5 mo) so have schedules limited to things like day care and bath time. That's a big part of the reason I want to get into a program sooner rather than later. I've heard good things about Brookhaven. I don't know how hard it will be to get a job, but I do know a lot of hospitals are Magnet (or working on becoming Magnet recognized), which requires a certain percentage of BSNs over ADNs. I think you can get hired as an ADN but you have to sign a contract stating you'll acquire your BSN within 2-3 years.

Do you know what interfered? Was it just trying to balance everything? I have two little ones, so that is a bit concerning. But my parents are thrilled that I'm working on getting into nursing (they're both in the field), so I'm sure they'll be a great support system when my husband is out of pocket. I just keep telling myself "It's only 16 months to get through!"

11/11 @ 11am. Just got off the phone a couple minutes ago. Yay!!

I left my message yesterday. Maybe they wait till the call back time frame us over before they start calling us back for the interviews. Probably have some sort of spreadsheet that makes it easier to keep track of everyone throughout the process.

YAYAYAYAY! haha... SUCH a relief! I think waiting for that e-mail will be the most stressful part of the application process. I'm scheduled to work on Friday the 13th, so looks like 11/11 will have to work. Congrats y'all

Makes me nervous that it's taken longer than the past couple semesters. Wonder if there's more applicants with closer points to cull through or if they're just busier or what. I guess it doesn't really matter why... I just want to know yes or no! The palpitations I get with each email notification are driving me a little bonkers haha
