Hello, So I told myself I will write a post if I pass. So below I'll write what I did. First I'm Canadian, so the NCLEX is something completely new for us because we had been writing the CRNE. 1. I looked into reviews of if kaplan NCLEX prep is worth it. It seemed to have good reviews so I took it in Mid may. Diagnostic test: 44% Readiness test: 54% Q trainer 4: 50% Q trainer 5: 47% Q trainer 6: 51% Q trainer 7: 53% Clearly I didn't do well I was freaking out, and realized my content wasn't strong. Someone recommended me the hurst review. By the way, the NCLEX in Canada is $360 and I thought to myself instead of repeating and spending time and money again and taking the risk, I'll purchase the Hurst Review. 2. Hurst review: definitely worth the money for those who feel they are not strong in content review. Sure, the kaplan provides many questions, but I personally feel the rationals they provide were not enough to learn. You're practically searching rationals yourself because what they provide is so little. The hurst is cheaper and the review really helps. With the 6 Question banks from Hurst review I scored from the 60s-70s) I didn't get the recommended score there either (apparently 85/125 is good). 3. 1 week before my test (booked July 10th). I found out about UWorld. They had a 1 week free trial, so because I didn't like kaplan questions, I signed up for the 1 week trial with UWorld, and seriously, it was amazing! I can't even say enough about UWorld. Their questions and rationals were so detailed! They had pictures, videos, etc. They explain the wrong rationals, the correct ones and summarized in the end the key points! I learned so much just within that 1 week. Final thoughts: For content, Hurst is very helpful, and for practice questions (you do need to do a lot of them) so I would recommend UWorld (pretty cheap too). I wished I had not spent so much money on kaplan. I started studying in June, after my kaplan course. For the first 2 week of June I studied about 3 hrs because I was also working. For the last 3 weeks before my exam I studied on average for about 5-7hrs/ day. It is recommended to not study the day before the exam, but I felt I wasnt ready and studied for about 3 hours. But DO NOT study past 6. RELAX! I read this (below) very helpful, summarized notes starting 2 days before the exam. Prayer 1 O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the questions you knew, obtain for me alike favor in the examinations for which I am now preparing. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked. Through Christ our Lord. St. Joseph of Cupertino, pray for us Amen. Prayer 2 O st. Joseph of Cupertino who by your prayer obtained from God to be asked at your examination, the only preposition you knew. Grant that I may like you succeed in the (here mention the name of the examination, NCLEX) examination. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked. O st. Joseph of Cupertino pray for me O holy Ghost enlighten me Our lady of Good studies pray for me Sacred heart of Jesus, seat of divine wisdom, enlighten me. Day of the test: I had my exam at 8 am. I woke up, got to the test center 45 min earlier. Did not read anything on my way there. Tried to be confident. Told myself I studied the most I could and kept telling myself I got this. EXAM: 76 questions, Lotssss (20+) SATA questions, no drug calculations, lots of prioritization questions, I think I had 2 delegation questions and some OB. Sorry my thread is so long. But I wanted to explain everything I did. For who ever is taking kaplan and are scoring the same as I did, pleae don't feel discouraged. The same goes for Hurst, I didn't score too well on there either but I still managed to pass. The scores mean nothing. Just keep going! You got this! BE CONFIDENT!
