Newbie here to the forums.. and this role, honestly. I took this job about 6 months ago, and now my director is leaving (for 18-24 months) and I am asked to fill her role with 2 other ladies who have way more experience than myself. I need to re-vamp the way I look at education to allow me to have more time to focus on my new duties. In addition to handling the orientation on my units- Labor & Delivery / Mother Baby (I currently have 35+ on orientation right now), I have approximately 160 employees that I "huddle" with monthly (I spend one week coming in on dayshift/nightshift at allotted times) to get new information/products/education out. I know I'm not the only one out there educating large units, so I was wanting to know YOUR input -- YOUR methods. In addition to all this going on, I have probably (estimating, here) 15 employees who have left this year from both units and I currently have 11 staff members pregnant who will all deliver within the same three months. I am a bit apprehensive about having the extra responsibility, still learning this new job, having the shortage in staff anyway - and then the anticipated additional shortage in staff. In addition to this -- I am going back to school to get my BSN and starting in less than a month! Your advice is MORE than welcome! Thanks so much!
