  1. Thank you for your input, Davey Do! I really appreciate it. This is such a tough decision to make so I'm happy to see that you are happy where you are :)
  2. Miss Infermiera- Thank you for this. I've been really trying to figure out what all a PMHNP does. I know they tend to make good money (compared to Psychologists and MSWs) so obviously that's a factor in the back of my mind. I don't have any nursing experience and I really don't know how I'd be in that type of setting. I'm not sure what a Masters in Psych would get me, since I know how saturated that market is.
  3. Hi all- I'm interested in the PMHNP career path, but have no experience in the medical field. I'm a psychology undergrad student right now about to graduate. My question is: before deciding whether PMHNP is something I could do, where can I get relevant experience? I'm in the Atlanta area and can't find any PMHNPs around here (which is surprising!). Should I just volunteer in a hospital? I just really want to get a feel for the day to day life of a PMHNP and what it took to get there. Thanks so much! Any other advice is greatly appreciated :)
  4. Thanks Dogen! I'm curious; are you an RN or a PMHNP? I'm getting very confused with the terms and how they differ! :) How different are the day-to-day routines?
  5. Hi everyone! I'm new here and I was hoping someone could give me some advice or info about careers in the psychiatric or psychology field of nursing. I honestly don't know anything about nursing (other than you guys have the hardest job out there) and I'd love to learn more! What's nursing school like? What types of positions are available in psych? My main interest lies in helping children and adolescents with psychiatric and behavioral disorders. My concern is that I would be doing more of the hands-on kind of work. Does a nurse do the same kind of work across all specialties? What kind of setting do you work in and what is your day like? Thanks everyone! For everything you do :)
