Is it possible to transfer from a CC to a BSN program w/o having an RN?
Hello! I'm almost done applying to several four-year universities because I would like to get my Bachelor's in Nursing, but I want to have a back up plan just in case something happens to my four year plan. I don't want to have to go to a CC and get my RN then go to an RN-BSN program because I feel like to would take more time. I wanted to know if I can somehow do my prereqs at a CC then apply to an upper level BSN program. I live in California, and I would like to do my prereqs at my local CC so I can live at home, have a part time job, and save some money for nursing school. I would like to transfer into Washington State University or University of Washington's School of Nursing, but I don't know if they accept transfer into the BSN program without having my RN already. Please let me know of some options along the lines of this. God Bless!

Azusa Pacific University
So I recently got a letter from APU saying that the School of Nursing has a separate application that is due in February 2016, so I'm not sure if they changed the direct admission, but I hope not. I'll let you know when I get a hold of my admissions counselor!

Arizona State University?
Hello! I am a senior in high school and I am in the progress of filling out my applications! I've done a lot of research on nursing programs and I have a few questions about ASU's program. I read that ASU's program is a direct entry program so freshman are admitted directly to the nursing major and are secured spots in clinicals etc. I've been mainly looking for programs like this, but there aren't a lot in the west :/ How competitive is it to get into the program? I have about a 3.5 weighted GPA right now. I took biology and physics and I'm taking honors chemistry right now. Is the program good? When do you start nursing classes, in the second year of third year? Any info will help! I'm super nervous I won't get in anywhere! God Bless

Hello y'all! I am a senior in high school in the middle of filling out my college applications and I'm super excited! I've done a lot of research on TONS of nursing school, but I'd like to gather more research from people who have actually gone through and are in the programs! I've read that APU has a direct-entry program, so freshmen are admitted directly into the nursing program which is great! I've been mostly focusing on trying to find direct entry nursing programs like this so I secure a spot in the upper division nursing clinicals and don't have to worry that much about GPA and prereqs. How competitive is it to get into APU's program as a freshman? Is the program good? I took biology my sophomore year (A/B+) and I'm taking honors chemistry right now. My GPA is around a 3.5. Any info you can on APU's nursing program will help! God Bless!

ROTC and Grades
I know it's a lot to read but any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking time to help! I want to become a nurse very badly but I also want to join the military whether I'm a nurse or not. I'm still deciding between the Navy and the Air Force. I really wanted to enlist then become and officer, but ive decided to go go college so i dont put it off. I'm interested in ROTC because I feel it would prepare for the military life as well as becoming an officer. I'm skipping my junior year of high school because I completed extra classes through the cc. I thought graduating a year early with honors (hopefully high honors) would give me a competitive edge to get a ROTC scholarship, but I got a D first semester in my freshmen honors geometry class (got a B second semester) and a D in one of my cc classes. What kind of grades does the ROTC scholarship board look at? Do they look at 9-12 grades or just GPA? I'll most likely retake the cc college if I can fit it into my busy schedule. I'll be taking 3 AP classes and 2 honors my senior year and really want to do well.... Please anyone tell me about my chances of getting into NROTC or AFROTC. What can I do to improve my chances? I also did marching band and I play the oboe. I've been in honor band several years. Any help appreciated Kate

Grades and SDSU
I'm a high school senior and I'm set on becoming a nurse and I know this seems long but I need advice and info. Anything would be helpful. I've done a lot of extra classes through my cc which has allowed me to skip my junior year, but I got a D in one of my classes at the college and a D in honor gemery first semesterling of my freshmen year. The history class was an online class and I was on vacation.....long story, and the second semester of geometry I got a C which is weighted as a B. The D in history will be tacked on to my sophomore grades. My first choice school is UC Irvine and they have contacted me about applying, but I'm not confident into getting into the nursing program so my next school is SDSU. I'm curious if I can get into SDSU with a D let alone into the nursing program. I'm going to meet with my counselor soon to choose my classes according to what's needed for college and talk about retaking the classes. I'm hoping the colleges don't consider my freshmen grades because I was told the UC and Cal state look at 10-12 grades. My GPA went from a 3.23 weighted to a 4.2 weighted. I really buckled down this past year. Something that's appealing about SDSU is that it's a direct entry but I'm worried I won't get in!! Please I need some advice and information!! Kate

Help with Navy ROTC vs. MECP!! Please!
I've posted about air force vs. navy rotc for nursing, but I am a die hard Navy person and know it's the place fore me. My situation is that I am skipping my junior year of high school, so I'll be graduating high school at 17 and I will start college at 17. Because of my age, my parents will not let me attend college out-of-state and they are definitely not willing to move with me. On the Navy ROTC application (Nurse Option), there are absolutely NO colleges in California. The closest school to California is Seattle University in Washington State. I was looking at college websites just finding out where I'm going to apply, and I found that University of San Diego (California) offers a Nursing club for nurse midshipmen to promote camaraderie, and I was curious about this. I'm curious that maybe instead of filling out a Navy ROTC application as a high school student, I can attend San Diego State University (which is a cross-town unit with University of San Diego) then sign up for NROTC as a nursing major at SDSU. Can I do that? Enroll in NROTC as San Diego State University as a Nursing major? If so, how will that affect my chances of getting a scholarship? If I can't do the Navy ROTC nurse option in California, I'd be interested in enlisting and becoming a nurse in the midst of my navy career through the Medical Enlisted Commissioning program and information about that would be super helpful like what rank I have to be, requirements to get in, and how competitive it is etc. I really need help and some information because the recruiter handling my NROTC scholarship application is being of no help! Thanks y'all Kaitlin

Navy ROTC vs. Air Force ROTC
I know I just inquired about the Navy and Army ROTC, but I've been turned on to the Air Force ROTC. I want to know which would be better for my goals and aspirations. I want to become a Nurse Anesthetist or NP. I would also maybe like to make the Navy or Air Force my career. Who has better training? Better benefits? Opportunities to become an advanced practice nurse? Who has a better working environment/living conditions for nurses? Can I be stationed in California? Are there bases in CA? Is there a limit to what schools I can attend for the nursing option? Overall, should I do a high school application right now or should I wait until I'm enrolled in college before I sign up for ROTC. I want to get some inside information before I commit to anything or come to any decisions. God Bless, K

Army ROTC vs. Navy ROTC?
I'm a senior in high school and my ultimate goal is to become a nurse anesthetist or a nurse practitioner and serve in the United States military. I would really like to do ROTC so I can have my school paid for and get used to military life because I dive in head first. I feel like ROTC is a great option for me because it'll prepare me for the military lifestyle. I live in California and already started to fill out an NROTC application online, but for some reason, the Navy ROTC application doesn't show any colleges in California (where I live). The closest college is in Washington State, and me and my family agree that it's too far for me to go off on my own (I'll be 17 when I start college). I found that the Army offers more ROTC schools to choose from, including many in California where I can be somewhat close to home. 1. What are each of the working environments like? 2. What are the deployments like for each? 3. What branch will allow me to become a CRNA the quickest? 4. Who has better training? Better treatment (are nurses and/or women abused)? 5. Which branch is more family friendly? 6. Can I sign up for the Navy ROTC Nurse option and go to a college in California? 7. What are the differences between the two branches? (i.e, locations, deployment). I would really like as much insight into the two branches, both branchs' nursing, and the two ROTC programs. Thanks for your time.
