Yes that is correct. If I am accepted, I am expected to start in the fall. I was thinking of doing my cna training next summer because it wouldn't if in my schedule this summer. Thanks for answering! Also btw do you recommend finding ajob as a cna and if i get accepted should i still continue working as a cna throughout nursing school?

So I am currently a pre nursing student and I am suppose to apply to tve nursing program in January 2016. I was wondering during my short time should I get my cna done or should I just leave it? I am currently volunteering at a nursing home and about to go volunteer at an Aurora Clinic.

I am a pre-nursing student currently at UWM. It was stupid of me and I didn't look at it closely but I just doubled check and I am suppose to apply to the nursing program at UWM in January 2016. I feel like I am still inexperienced and don'treally learn much. I was thinking of applying for my cna training in the summer 2016 but now that I checked it I want to start now. You can say I am an average student with 300+ volunteer hours and is currently volunteering at a nursing home and about to start volunteering at an Aurora Clinic. I am pretty scared because I know that I wont get in the first time. Since UWM is super competitive I am now looking into other programs. Does anyone know other good programs in Milwaukee and recommend it? I was wondering that is it too late for me to become a cna because I'm applying to the nursing program in January? Any tips? Thanks!

Thank you for your answer! I am thinking of getting my cna license this summer but they are a bit costly right now and unfortunately it didn't fit my schedule for this summer. I plan to take cna classes next summer before I apply to the nursing program, but I am still not sure if I want to get my cna license if I get into the nursing program at my school.

Yes, that's what I was thinking too that they might not have internships for pre-nursing students but I still just want to see if there might be some which maybe not lol I am in the process of volunteering at an Aurora clinic so maybe in the future I can ask them! I am also currently volunteering at a nursing home so I can experience different settings and decided which is best for me. Thanks again! :)

Thank you for your reply! I was thinking of applying to cna classes this summer but the schedule was not working out for me so I was planning to take it next summer so I was debating. I was looking for internships but the minimum gpa they're looking for was a 3.0. My cum gpa is a 2.9 right now. I am retaking 2 of my classes to bum my gpa up next semester so hopefully I can bring it up. But thanks for replying!

I'm sure that this question has been answered many times but I just couldn't get this out of my mind. The reason that I am asking is because I am currently a pre-nursing student right now and I will apply to the nursing program in the fall of 2016. I was wondering that aside from the experiences from being a cna is it worth taking the class and becoming one? I talked to my nursing advisor and she told me that I don't have to take cna classes as long as I volunteer I should be fine. I am currently volunteering at a nursing home right now and in the process of volunteering at an Aurora Clinic over by where I live. I had a friend who said that once you get into the nursing program they will teach you the basics of a cna. I'm debating whether I should apply to cna classes or not because will it benefit me? Sorry if it is confusing, hopefully some of you will understand it. Thanks a bunch!! :)
