  1. I just wanted to say good luck and keep a positive mind! Mine shut off at 75 too! But I felt like I didn't get enough priority questions, so I'm extremely worried that I wasn't doing well. You never know though, huh? The waiting period to find out is ridiculous, I feel. I mean the computer knows whether or not we pass or fail, so why make us wait 48 hrs, a week, two weeks?? Haha, I guess I needed to vent a lot too! Anyway, Let us know how you did! Katie
  2. I Think so. There were two different choices for the free stuff. One was to take a practice test at one of the Kaplan test centers, and the other was a test taking seminar, or something like that. You just have to register before you can attend. hope that helps! :)
  3. I found it when I was poking around on the Kaplan website. I found it to be really strange at first when I saw that too!
  4. Hi Tee! I had to post on your thread because I feel we have a lot on our plates right now as we are trying to pass this ridiculous exam! During the summer I had a lob lined up that was waiting for me to pass my exam prior to me actually taking it. They even called me THE DAY of my exam to find out if I had passed it, forgetting i was supposed to take it in about 2 hours from when they called me. All the while I had my boyfriend arguing with me about the most ridiculous relationship fight on the most impotant day of my life. Turns out I failed the first try.... I gave the job away since I couldn't determine when I would get my license.... So THEN on my second try, I have moved back home temporarily, only to find out, that my soul mate, my boyfriend of 2 years, wants to break up with me ONE WEEK before the NCLEX! can't you believe it??? I wanted to lose it. So anyway I thought after that was all said and done I had enough confidence to take the exam again, but once again I failed. It's really frustrating to go through 4 years of college and not pass one stupid exam that can determine the rest of your life. I worked so hard at this, you know? I feel like I need more relaxation techniques right now than I do at actually studying content because everything around me stresses me out to the point where I can't study anymore.... anyway, I wanted to let you know, TEE that you aren't the only one with personal prblems in your life and that we can get through this together with the help of your friends and fellow nursing friends. Good luck and let us know how you are doing! -Kate
  5. So my next exam date is drawing near and as I was searching the Kaplan website I came a few FREE class sessions. At first it seemed odd to me since the prices for Kaplan are so ridiculously high. There was one session where it was just a test taking strategy seminar and then the other option was to sit in on a practice exam for the NCLEX. The test strategy class isnt offered until November where I'm located, but they did have an opening for a practice exam... Has anyone ever taken one of these free courses, and is it beneficial? I thought I could give it a shot since I need the practice, and it was free! haha... can't pass up an offer like that! I am still using the Saunders book to study from and feel I am doing really well on the practice questions. I just thought this would be a neat different appraoch to study from since this is my THIRD time sitting for the NCLEX! (and hopefully my last since third time is a charm) Good luck to everyone out there preparing for the NCLEX, and if I haven't congratulated everyone already on passing, Im not the greatest with replies to everyone's pots! Good luck pursuing one of the greatest careers of our lives that I can't wait to become. Crossing my fingers! -Kate
  6. hmmm.... well I guess since it's not a mastery exam I'll just assume it doesnt remember the exact questions it was giving me the first time. I've taken the exam twice already and its hard to believe that this has happened twice out of coincidence.... I'm just really hoping it doeesn't happen when I go to take it again cause it will get me really stressed out! I just want to pass this stupid exam! ugh...
  7. As my next exam date approaches, I wanted to find out if anyone has had a similar experience and/or can answer my question about the NCLEX.. I remember getting the same question about a particular disease, but reworded with basically the same answers. I remember feeling confident the first time I had answered them, but when I saw that they were asking me the same question AGAIN, I began to doubt myself. I know they werent the pilot questions because I went the whole 265 and It happened throughout the exam. Does anyone know what that means? My first thought was that it was wrong the first time I answered it. But it was frustrating because I remember feeling really confident up until that kept happening! Has this happened to anyone?
  8. I purchased a Mosby book last year but it was so hard for me to follow the format I never even finished the book! Then I bought a Lippincott Q&A book this summer and what's interesting is that when I would score my answers after i finished a section the rationales wouldn't match up with what they said the correct answer was. So for me the Lippincott book was frustrating because I had to double check every answer to make sure that they were giving me the actual correct answer. Is that worth returning? It was so hard for me to study from focusing more on finding their mistakes! Argh! I will probably keep the first Saunders Q&A book I bought and go get the other one for the review part. It's really hard for me to review content because theres so much to focus on and I'm the type of person who gets so tired easily reviewing that I go right to questions instead. I'm sure I'm not the only one! haha. So I hope the format is easy enough for me to review like you say it is Suzanne cause I need all the help I can get for my next attempt! I will look into the Kaplan review course as well too. I think I'm lacking the test-taking strategies more than not knowing the content and finding out how to narrow down each problem. Plus after graduating and failing once already my stress level is through the roof and I can't relax! Thanks for everyone's help!
  9. Thanks for the words of encouragement! I will go return and get the other Saunders book tomorrow. Thanks Suzanne for your help. I'll send you a PM with my email address. :)
  10. Hi everyone! This is my first time posting but I have to say I feel everyone's pain who hasn't passed NCLEX yet. I'm still workin on it! I just bought a Saunders Q&A book the other day and I was wondering if that was the one that was recommended from the posts I've read. The book store did have another Saunders book so I was a little confused as to which one to buy. I think it was more of a review type book, but I can't remember. I'm worried the review books may not be enough for me since I've been struggling on this exam, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a review course either in a classroom or online that's been helpful. I took one already in the summer and I feel it didnt prepare me enough. Any advice would be greatly apprecated! Thanks!
