Hello. I am a 21 yr old looking to get my life back on track while suffering from anxiety disorder. I am looking to get my BSN and to possibly continue to get my Masters in Psychiatric- Mental Health Nursing. A little about me: I had to leave after my first year of collage (going for a degree not related to healthcare) because of my anxiety. My anxiety was not because of the work load but the physical aspect of getting out and going to school. I am a month away from finishing an online medical coding course, which I am very interested in, but I know sitting at a computer for most of my day is not for me. I also work as a supervisor for a grocery store, which I must say it has helped me get out of my comfort zone. My anxiety is a daily battle. It affects me strongly before work and usually diminishes throughout the day unless I am faced with a "difficult" task. I do keep myself rather professional at work (very few know I suffer from anxiety). I also keep calm during tough situations even though in my mind I am "freaking out". My concern is that I won't be able to handle the stress of nursing (esp. starting out). Going back to school is also going to be very stressful (any nursing schools around here are a good 30-40 min away & traveling is a huge trigger for my anxiety). Does any one else suffer from anxiety or a related disorder? How did you cope with the stress of school, finding a job, and working in the field? Any incite, advice, tips, etc. are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
