  1. Regarding FNANA... It never really got off the ground. Two nurses from Arizona took over the binder, but did not have time or resources to manage it. I now have the original binder and have been in the same circumstance. I will be meeting with 6 CFCN's at the Baton Rogue LEAP course next month and we will be discussing the organization of some sort of foot care nursing interest group. It will be up to them, as I am pretty swamped with a nonprofit organization that I started... THE PREVENTIVE DIABETIC FOOT CARE ALLIANCE. Maybe someday we will get organized!!!
  2. You may just want to have enough complete sets of instruments and burs for the amount of people you will be seeing, and have all instruments sterilized and wrapped individually. If you have funds, this is the simplest way to go... so that you are not spending half your time dealing with cleaning instruments!!
  3. It would be great if you could develop such a website. I have had 3 websites in the past several years and was just not able to keep up with the work involved! It was also very expensive as I had to hire a web person to help me. A website for foot nurses is desperately needed. I have formed a nonprofit organization to help train doctors in preventive foot care for diabetics in developing countries. It is my hopes to get a grant to cover the costs of a good website and to hire someone to help keep up with it. I am getting close, and now have a few grant writers who are volunteering to help write the grant. For those who may be interested.... there is a diabetic foot conference coming up in March in Hollywood. For further info.... http://www.dfcon.com ( I am in no way involved with this conference, so I am hoping it is OK to post info. on it! ) I will be attending the first day, which is devoted to international diabetic foot topics. If anyone plans to go, let me know. There are several foot care nurses going and we should all meet up! Anyway..... I wish you luck with your website dream.
  4. Barbicide is a disinfectant. Each instrument that is used on a client/patient needs to have been sterilized..... by whatever method you choose, liquid, dry heat, or autoclave. Disinfectants are not good enough. You will miss this question on the certification exam!
  5. for more information on foot care and courses... you might want to check out the http://www.wocncb.org website and look at the information on foot and nail certification. It is an unlimited field, I highly recommend it.
  6. There is a market for foot care nursing everywhere. No courses in Texas that I have ever heard of, and I am fairly well informed of what is out there.
  7. There are foot care courses listed on the wocncb.org website. Look at the links that take you to foot nurse certification information. They have a resource list.
