  1. I had a terrible reaction to the pertussis vaccine as a child (super high fever, swelling), so I cannot get it again. Will I still be able to enter the field of nursing? Many programs state you have to have a pertussis booster, but I am wondering if some would accept a titer. Does anyone have experience with this. PS. I also really want to reiterate the reason I don't want to get a pertussis booster is because I CAN'T, not because I don't want to. I'm totally pro-vaccine and I'm happy to get any other vaccinations I need.
  2. Thank you for the responses everyone!
  3. Hello fellow Marylanders. I am interested in going back to school for nursing (already have a bachelors degree). I would love to work as a CNA to get some experience, but I don't want to give up my full time job (I need to pay the bills and eventually pay for nursing school) just yet. Do you know if it would be feasible as a newly licensed CNA to get hired per diem anywhere? And would you suggest a hospital or a long term care facility (or maybe some other location I haven't thought of yet!). Thank you.
