  1. Community College of Philadelphia Nursing Class of 2018
  2. fb group made! Log into Facebook | Facebook
  3. That's really great to hear! When are we going to make our 2018 fb group? haha
  4. Congrats, PsyNurse2Be! Don't be nervous-- it's going to be a great two years :-) We're all in this together!
  5. I took my exam in the Bonnell Building, room BG-14. The letter also says to bring any picture ID. Try to come 10-15 minutes before your exam time because they call people's name in one at a time in alphabetical order to enter the exam room. All the best!
  6. Not yet. I don't think we'll find out (by mail) until late March or early April. If you need to know before that, it wouldn't hurt to contact the department head. From other years, it appears that orientation occurs someday in May after Spring finals.
  7. Yes with the green slip-- someone at the Bursar windows will take care of it.
  8. I gave my check/slip directly to the Bursar's office today when I went to class. Saved me a stamp!
  9. "Community College of Philadelphia"
  10. Same here! Feeling pumped! :0)
  11. No, the school provided the exam (computer-based). After admissions receives your nursing application and relevant transcripts, they will send you a letter with your exam date/time (location is at CCP).
  12. A general elective is any class you wish to take-- I fulfilled this by taking French I. The site below shows you which courses can fulfill your humanities elective: Page not found | Community College of Philadelphia Architecture, Design & Construction 176 Art 101, 103, 104, 120, 205 English 100 and 200 levels, other than 101, 102, 108, 112 Foreign Languages History Humanities Interdisciplinary Studies Music 103, 105, 106, 120, 121 Philosophy Religious Studies
  13. Thank you!
  14. Thanks for the comforting comment, rockbeatsscissors! It is always beneficial for us newbies to get to hear from alum. :-) If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up doing after graduation and getting your license?
  15. I think once the class is filled, we'll get some stuff in the mail about paying our deposits and info on orientation! Congrats!
  16. Yes, I'm 100% certain according to what has happened for other students in previous years from the other CCP threads. Congrats!
  17. Yay! Congrats, rn-robin!
  18. Wow! That was quick -- my Degree Path just updated my major to Nursing! See you guys at orientation.
  19. Hey all, just want to reach out to those who are applying/accepted to the nursing program starting Fall 2016! Hope we can become a strong cohort and do this together! I just took the Kaplan entrance exam this evening and got an overall score of 80 (90s in reading, writing, and math... and a dismal score of 40 for science since I'm still taking AP II). I'm really excited for what's next (hopefully an acceptance letter :-D). Anyone hopeful future classmates on here?
  20. Hey, agwalthney. I listed the prereqs you need below. I'm currently going to CCP for my prereqs and it's a pretty cheap way to do them since I'm a Philly resident. I also added below the CCP courses you can take to fulfill the prereqs (I went to a Drexel ACE info session and was given these equivalencies). And yes, they do accept online courses if you took them at a regionally accredited college of university and fulfill the lab requirement if they are any of the four science prereqs. At the info session, the admissions counselor was very strict on anatomy/physiology/microbiology courses to be have taken within the past 5 years prior to enrollment. - English (3 credits) - ENGL 101 or 102 - Developmental Psych (3) PSYC 215 - Human nutrition (3) DIET 111 - Statistics (3) ECON 112 or MATH 251 - General Chemistry 1 w/Lab (4) CHEM 110 or CHEM 121 - Anatomy and Physiology I w/Lab (4) BIO 109 - Anatomy and Physiology II w/Lab (4) BIO 110 - Microbiology w/Lab (4) *3 of the 4 sciences prereqs must be completed at the time of application. Drexel Ace Prerequisites (Under "Admissions")
  21. Thanks Zephyr9 -- very valuable information! My plan is exactly that! I do have a bachelor's degree in another field and I think it might be best, financially and efficiently, to get the ADN and then transfer what I can from my BA and ADN to an online BSN program. I was thinking about 1-year ABSN programs for a while, but I think I rather take the time to learn nursing and not spend the $45k+ being rushed. Cheers!
  22. Hello! I'm considering applying to CCP's nursing program and I would like any and all alumni to give feedback on your job findings after the program! Noting job locations would be helpful too. Also, if you care to share, what was your entry level salary? Thanks!
