Young and single (maybe I'm just assuming? ) is the time to do an expensive city. Texas will always be there later.
  2. OP, I would've loved to know the same things when I was applying, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of active alumni on this site, and it's not public knowledge how the admissions criteria are weighed. I was offered a spot from the waitlist. My GPA was below competitive, 3.2, so I assume they considered that I had brought it up from a 1.something that I earned (ha!) many years ago during my first attempt at college. I'm sure you're already aware that they are a reputable college that's directly affiliated with the CMC hospitals, so the above concerns about a for profit school are moot. I ended up declining the spot, but the admissions person was extremely helpful with my questions while I decided. If you are still working on your pre-reqs, you should look into their pre-nursing program.
  3. Well, it sounds like we're all set with the back-ups! I'm signed up to take the CPR course on Thursday night, I assume I'll need that for any program.
  4. Alternate. I guess I'll ride the list right up until I have to pay the community college!
  5. I received mine also!
  6. I hate to hear that you're left hanging, but I'm also relieved that I'm not the only one with no news. Hopefully tomorrow is our day!
  7. Congratulations! I still haven't received anything, which is concerning. Did you all get any confirmation when submitting your applications? You know, "Thank you for your interest..." I'm worried that my email was wrong, but I know that I quadruple checked my application. I suppose I'll be calling tomorrow! ETA: Blehh. Orrr...they have only sent out acceptances so far.
  8. I don't know. Hopefully I just get in! None of my other immediate options are super appealing.
  9. I had hoped that "by next week" meant "before next week", but it's not looking good! Am I the only one that's been thinking through the next steps in case I don't get admitted?
  10. No classes right now. I finished my pre reqs last semester, except for Eng. 1something. I already took a different 1something before requirements changed. I'm hoping to get in and then have it waived!
  11. Has anyone clicked the giant red "ADMIISSIONS UPDATE" at the CPCC nursing homepage? You get this: Our Nursing Admission Committee is still busy considering applications for fall 2016 admission. We will send emails of acceptance as soon as we can – hopefully within the next 2 weeks. But there's no indicator of when that was posted! Thanks for the update/non-update!
  12. I have no idea how applicants are ranked, but I wish I did! I went to an information session and I think somebody was trying to pin that info down, too. The speaker was slippery about what a realistically competitive GPA, SAT score, etc, would look like. My impression was that each applicant is considered as a whole, but maybe it just speaks to wild differences between application cycles. ??
  13. I feel pretty solid about my community college also. I guess we'll know soon enough. Best wishes!
  14. No. I imagine they send emails all at once
  15. I haven't heard. The website says to give them 4 weeks from the admissions deadline. I hope it's on the sooner side of 4 weeks. I had 43 or 47. Ha, I don't know why I didn't make myself a copy of the application!
  16. I think your question jumped post! I've applied for the fall. Hope to hear something before February's out.
  17. It's not chem heavy. I did fine on the test without having taken a class. The bits of chem that you get in the biology courses should be sufficient. Have you taken those yet?
  18. Anybody else applied for the Fall 2016 entry to Carolinas College of Health Sciences? I'm fully expecting to not get admitted, my GPA isn't very competitive, but I still can't wait to hear for sure! I am also not applying from the pre-nursing program.
  19. It's probably not a sure thing, but you're not out anything for the trying. In the meantime, register for a pre-requisite or two.
  20. Any news? Crickets over here. I was hoping to hear something before the deadline since it's been rolling admissions in the past. I'd love to know when people start getting word! ETA: I don't know what/where I was thinking of. Looks like it's not rolling admissions. Sooo, just more waiting!
  21. I'll be applying, too. I'm actually planning to turn my stuff in tomorrow. I noticed the points, too. Ten points for already having a bachelor's! Not feeling so competitive anymore.
  22. Do you guys have children? Is living separately for a bit an option? Two years is enough time to get pretty deep into your program. It's also a long time to just bide your time.
  23. After tuition is paid, the grant will come to you to do as you please, but I would suggest seeing it aside for all of the random expenses that crop up for equipment, study sessions, exams, etc. I've found nursing school to be incredibly nickel and diming! Also, see somebody at the financial aid office and make sure you are still good for the Pell. The scholarship might change that, ?
  24. Buy a used, unmarked book. I got mine off of Craigslist, twenty bucks. There are two complete practice exams in there. I didn't find it necessary to buy the package with an online component. I did some of the practice tests on an unaffiliated website and the material seemed in line with what was in the study guide.
  25. You can send the same scores to several schools.
